Lucius and Eide follow the hilichurl into the cave leading to the Chasm. As they get closer, they realise something...
Lucius: Wait...
Eide: That's... that's not Caribert.
Lucius: There's no silk scarf around his arm.
Eide: Right. Caribert's scarf was a gift I once gave to his mother. I use it now as a marker of sorts. M—My eyes must be going... how could I not recognize my own son? Ugh, this decrepit body of mine...
Lucius: There's something strange about that hilichurl.
Eide: Yes... It doesn't seem interested in us in the least. It seems intent on walking in that direction... Where could it be going?
Lucius: No idea, but let's go have a look.
Eide: Yes... The more we know about hilichurls, the better.

The two follow the hilichurl deeper into the cave, only to now find themselves in an unknown sanctuary.
Eide: What a ghastly place... Has it always existed? I swear I've never noticed it before...
Lucius: Wait... up ahead... look.
He points to a group of hilichurls bowing.
Eide: Huh. It looks like they're... worshiping. Sometimes walking, sometimes kneeling in worship... And it appears to be in earnest. I've never seen anything like this in all my life. What in the world does this place conceal? Oh, there's only one way to find out.
Lucius: ("Something doesn't feel right about this place... it's eerie.")

After a bit of puzzle solving, Lucius and Eide approach what they hope to be the final door of the domain. However, as they approach the opening door, an Abyss Herald comes out.
Eide: Huh?
Lucius: Stay behind me.
Lucius pushes Eide back as he takes out Bloodcurler and Mistsplitter.
???: Halt, humans. Fate has not granted you the right to enter this place...
Lucius: I don't give a fuck.
???: Very well, then I grant you the trial of destiny.
The Herald's gauntlet extends blades of Cryo.
Lucius: ("A Cryo Abyss Herald?")
The Herald charges forward and goes for a slash, which Lucius parries with Mistsplitter before ducking the second slash.
Lucius: Humph!
He stomps his foot, causing a rock pillar to burst forth and push the Herald away to get some distance.
The Herald's blades glow as it fires two arcs of ice towards its target, who fires two Electro Chakrams back.
*BWOOSH* *BWOOSH*
The Chakrams and the arcs of ice collide, creating a Superconduct explosion that causes a small cloud to cover up the area between them.
