Heat of the Moment

She meant everything she said
in the heat of the moment,
trying to be cogent,
I warned her that
words are potentially potent.

She's very well spoken,
presence is omnipotent,
her demeanor was misfit,
eyes wet and fluorescent,
she interjects, "But I never meant it".

"I hate you" managed to hiss
from her heavenly lips,
even when she's livid,
she's as enchanting as an eclipse.

She said, "You're better off dead",
when I heard that I shivered,
my voice quivered,
her haunting words still linger
inside my head.

I could tell she was lament,
but I couldn't fall for her tricks,
for all it takes is one hypnotic kiss
to send me plummeting
back into her blissful abyss.

I know that truth is a
tough pill to swallow,
at first we shined as bright as Apollo,
then you wandered away from the chariot,
making our blossom of love somber.

I look up at the therapist,
this is the thanks I get?
For being a good man to
a woman so belligerent?

"Without a doubt,
I know it feels good to let
it all out, but let's
flip the script and
hear it from the horse's mouth."
