Lydia- The Pet Communicator

Chapter 18

The alarm in phone woke me up. I turned it off quickly and tried to sleep for a second time, bearing in mind that I had some more time to take a catnap. However, the warm sun rays contacting my bare skin, disturbed my siesta. I moaned lethargically and bunged down the window, which was open to some extent. I also pulled down the curtains to make the room dim. I wasn’t in the mood of waking up at all. I placed one pillow above my head and the other pillow between my legs, while closing my stinging eyes.

“Clara, how dare you do this to my daughter? You know what? I am going to kill you.My father pulls out a revolver from his pocket and aims it to Clara. He continues speaking,I will make sure your father is fired from his job. I am the C.E.O of the company and he is just a nerdy accountant.. You  all have to pay for hurting Lydia.”

“No please, don’t do. I don’t want Ricky.” Clara begged. Suddenly, Clara’s father entered the room with a handgun. “Peter, before hurting my daughter, you have to face me!”

“Your daughter can steal someone’s man, like you still money from our company’s account.  Why don’t you sit back at home? She can get a nice job of prostitution, you know!”

*DISHSHUM!*

My father fell on the ground after getting shot in his chest, and he was losing a lot of blood.

“Dad no!” I sat upright in my bed with fright, and looked around my composed room, realizing it was just a bad dream. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and filled a glass of water from the jug which was already kept on the table next to my bed. The cold water soothed my awfully dry throat. I got out of the bed quickly, wore my clothes and started searching for my father in the house. He was nowhere to be seen. I thought where had they gone, since Lucky was not there too. I found this really unusual.

Almost immediately, I jogged to the shelter to find them there, but they weren’t there too.

“Marwa, have you seen my father and Lucky?” I finally asked the Arabian filly, who was chewing on her grass.

“Yeah, Peter gave us our breakfast and took off, saying that he had something important to do and he will be right back.”

“Did he say anything else?”

“Yeah, he is going to his company and settle off a case.” A cat purred.

“So, where is Lucky?” I inquired.

“Lucky followed behind your father. They both have gone to his job place- somewhere.” A dog barked.

I need to go to his working place. I just hope he doesn’t do anything stupid because Clara’s father works in the same company. I can’t drive, damn it!

Just then, I got a terrific idea. I asked Marwa to ride me to my father’s company. “Marwa, let’s go to his working place, fast!” I put a saddle on Marwa’s back quickly, took a stool and climbed up on her. It was much easier this time.

“I will give you directions, and you take me there okay. I know people will stare at us and even the police can stop us, but just move and don’t stop!” I ordered. Marwa neighed- a yes and we took off.

As I was riding on Marwa, everyone in town was gawking at me, some were cheering and the others were showing their children the horse. I heard some whistles from the traffic police too, exactly just as I thought , but we didn’t mind. Marwa also followed my instructions really well.
