Lydia- The Pet Communicator
Chapter 36
It was really good to have dinner prepared by my mother after a long time. She made every individual’s favorite dish. So, there were a lot of varieties placed on the table. We had our dinner together and joyfully.
Ding- Dong, Ding -Dong
The doorbell rang, as we were eating our food. Drake sipped some of his red wine and stood up to open the door. He cleaned his mouth with a napkin which was kept near to his plate and mumbled, “I will get it!”
Before anyone could respond to him, he paced out the dining room hurriedly. We heard the main door being opened and subsequently, Drake’s non-stop murmurs. He was talking to someone continuously. I heard footsteps coming from the corridor, towards the dining room.
Drake walked in with a grin glued on his face, his eyes were all sparkly and full of excitement. I stopped chewing my food and smiled back at him idiotically, I was confused with his facial expressions.
All of a sudden, a dark haired chap with a muscular body and an average height appeared from behind Drake. He took a glimpse of all of us on the table and then, greeted us graciously.
“Meet Eric,” Drake flashed off his whites and continued, “He came all the way from California to meet me after finding me in a picture with Lydia and the tigress on a news website Californiatimes.com, on the Global news category.”
I instantly remembered that Drake told me about Eric once, he was the one who helped Drake come up from his torturous life with the support of his parents and he was his best friend back in California.
I gave out my hand to greet him, and asked him to have dinner with us. He looked very humble by his etiquette.
He sat with us on the dining table, and Drake started asking him about everything in California. My mother gave him a glass of water and she started serving him some food too.
“I won’t be able to each much, thank you. I came to meet Drake just shortly after my landing. I am very tired.”
“No problem son, have some food and get freshen up. Drake will give you his clothes for now. Don’t unpack your big bag tonight.” My father offered.
Eric looked at Drake unblinkingly and asked, “So, you won’t go to your apartment?”
Drake shook his head in refusal and murmured, “I will be going back tomorrow.”
“Oh! I will stay in a hotel for a night, no worries then.”
“You don’t have to Eric, you can stay with us and you are our guest. Drake told us a lot about you.” My father responded.
“Good or bad?” Eric teased, while poking a finger into Drake’s ribs. All of us chuckled, as Drake sighed out irritably and ran a hand roughly on his well set hair.
“Both of you have a lot to talk, it seems. So how did you know our address Eric?” I asked.
“Hmm, I went to Drake’s apartment to look for him first. So, the receptionist told me he wasn't there and she gave me your home address directly. So I came here.” He replied softly.
“Good thing, you got my place. I just wonder how the receptionist got my address.” I responded.
“I informed her where I will be staying tonight sweetie, in case of any emergency.” Drake spoke after me.
Eric told us about Drake’s childhood, after we finished having our dinner. Drake was a really sincere and an intelligent child. He even told Drake that his foster parents have called him back to California, they asked Eric to bring Drake along with him as his father needs him for the handling the grand casino business over there.
