Lydia- The Pet Communicator
Chapter 27
We all had our food silently, since we did too much of the talking and we were very hungry. The food was really luscious except, it got slightly cold. Chinese food wasn't that bad as I thought.
“Drake, why don’t you move in with us after Lydia’s exams?” My father asked kindheartedly, while chewing his Chow Mein.
“It’s not good to stay at my girlfriend’s place, right? She has to move in with me sooner, although my flat is smaller compared to your house.” Drake winked at me after joking, and shifted his glance to my father.
“Your heart is big, right Drake? That’s what matters.” I spoke immediately, while rolling my eyes at him.
My father cleared his throat and blurted, “All I know is I am not sending Lydia anywhere far from me. I can’t live without my daughter. So sorry Drake, you have to move in with us.” Drake’s facial expressions changed suddenly into disappointment. I could see the color of his face draining. When my father noticed it as well, he immediately changed the topic.
“Anyway, you have only two more days left for exams. Are you all ready Drake and Lydia?”
“Yes daddy, Drake has worked hard with me since day one. Even if I don’t study in these two remaining days, it won’t matter. I am totally ready.” Drake gave me a wonderful big smile, after hearing the response I gave. Then Drake stood up to pay our bills, however my father grabbed his arm right away to stop him from paying for the lunch.
“Who is the elder here?” My father furrowed his eyebrows at Drake.
“Of course, you sir. I am just giving both of you a treat.”
“I should give you a treat Drake. You’ve helped my daughter a lot. Go and sit in the car both of you. I will be right back.” My father demanded, at the same time as giving Drake the car keys. I held Drake’s hand, and pulled him out of the restaurant before he disagreed with it. Drake glared at me in discontent as we walked out.
“Drake, let him pay. He will get really mad at us, like the day you paid my admission fees. Remember? So, please let it be?” I looked at him making a cute puppy face. Drake gave out a loud sigh and accepted it, with a slight nod.
As soon as we jumped into the car, Drake pulled me closer to him, he looked straight into my eyes and held up my chin to kiss me. Drake looked really adorable. When we were about to kiss, my father opened the car and shouted, “Hey kids! Want some ice cream?”
Because of getting scared, I banged my head with the window as I tried to pull apart from Drake. I shrieked, “No dad! Let’s go home. Phew!” Drake chuckled at my turn of expression.
When driving back home, I couldn’t think about anything, except my pets. I didn’t like to keep them on their own. What if someone tried to hurt them? Or something went wrong? I couldn't even give a call to check up on them.
At the shelter:
“Hey guys, I got an idea. Let’s have some fun today! We have always been the obedient pets and we never tried to escape right? Though, it was very easy for us. So, let’s scare Lydia today by hiding around here, in the shelter only. I can break the fence into pieces with my horse power and all dogs can help me out by pushing it open too. Who’s with my idea?” Marwa encouraged the pets with self-assurance.
“No, it’s not a good idea! She has a lot of stress already Marwa. I won’t help you in this.” Garcon responded.
“It won’t be that bad, I promise. Let’s have some fun today?” Marwa pleaded.
