Chancey Hale- Spanish (mother); English/German, distant Iroquois ancestry (father); Chancey Hale is a young girl at the high school who is often depicted as intelligent, sophisticated, timid, overworked, and shy. She is a huge bookworm and is very intellectual, as all of her fellow students call her the smartest girl at school and generally look to her for help. She is often considered "exotic" in terms of her looks, and her main insecurity revolves around feeling second-best to others. She has spent little time socializing with other people and thus feels very scared and apprehensive about speaking to groups. Chancey loves animals dearly, and thanks to her ability to speak their language, she prefers the company of animals to people. It is revealed in her diary that she is good friends with Gretel Grant-Palermo because she was willing to give her a chance, as she feels that girls who are "different" are typically discriminated against. She suffers from an auditory processing disorder, a neurological deficit she developed from birth that makes it difficult for her to understand Instructions that are given to her orally. She is also a comic book enthusiast, as according to the school's yearbook, she likes tabletop games and is an active member of the comic book club, as well as a big fan of the comic book hero Deadpool. Chancey is a wholehearted and pretty-in-personality kind of person who is optimistic, positive, kind-hearted and always gets along with others, although she is naïve. She is aware of her flaws and embraces them and loves her friends, whom she considers the most important people  in the world to her. She is a nice girl who likes to try new fashion styles but can sometimes struggle with her quirks, although she can always find a new perspective on them in the end.

She can also be a bit self-conscious and react too quickly, such as instantly labeling Wendy Nowak as rude and accusing one of her friends of being the "Ghostly Gossip". Chancey is patient and considerate for the most part but does not sugarcoat her message or allow anyone to walk over her. The one exception to her no-nonsense attitude is her boyfriend Sterling, who she gives leeway beyond her standards despite the harm it does her because she is aware that his home situation is far from ideal. She is not happy with the situation, but she knows that she would also be unhappy without him, despite her parents not wanting him around due to him being working-class and her coming from a privileged background. He tends to be rather easy to provoke but due to his good nature, he has the capacity to be much stronger deep down than he may appear to be at first. Chancey is also an environmentalist, as trash and pollution in the ocean anger her, and she shows sympathy for many aquatic elements, including fish, frogs, and all water creatures. She loves helping water creatures and wishes for the ocean to be clean, and one of her earliest accomplishments was becoming the new captain of the swim team, presumably when her predecessor Julia Nichols graduated. She grew up living in a remote cottage located off the coast of Maine, dreaming of seeing the world and having an active social life. At 10 years old, she tried to have a whale being held captive at Sea World sent to the moon in order to "save" it, claiming the creature had talked to her. Chancey is clumsy but has a really big heart, showing a love for playing video games and hanging out with her friends and maybe crashing with a skateboard all the time.

She is curious, clever and geeky and claims to be a huge fan of Paramore, as she has pictures dedicated to Hayley Williams, her idol around her dorm, as well as some merchandise from the band. When she is not studying, inventing, or experimenting, she is most likely to be found enraptured by a comic book or writing and drawing her own. Being a vegan, she usually arranges her own food mostly from her vegetable garden and tends to get weak at the mere sight of blood. Chancey loves to read and is always excited to learn something new, and part of her condition is her hypersensitivity to sound, causing her to wear noise-canceling headphones. She likes to do everything by herself, such as eating lunch, reading the Warrior Cats series, and more, yet she is loyal, kind and always ready to do the right thing. Fair and down-to-earth, she is almost always about serious talking but is also very sarcastic and is the one in the group to be most likely to drop dry of dark humor since she too is playful, in a strange stoic way. She is quite capable of making new friendships and bonds with other people easily, but only when she is totally comfortable with it. Chancey is also very close with her mother and has a special connection with her, being the most emotionally attached to her between herself and her older half-sister. She is always willing to help her out and will often accompany her to Walmart or the local grocery store in order to run errands together. Because her father was often away while she was growing up doing business trips around the world, the two have somewhat of a distant relationship, yet she is respectful and polite to him. He often likes to take her and her sister to the golf course, and her grandparents own a country club that is located in St. George, Utah.

Chancey is also on good terms with Cade Beckford, Sterling's best friend, although the two were initially at odds due to his apathetic demeanor. They frequently bond whenever they go to the movies with Sterling, although Cade complained about feeling like a "third wheel" at first. She and Gretel become best friends sometime during their sophomore year of high school and attend bible camp together that summer. The two have inside jokes that they share with each other and like to talk about conspiracy theories in her room when they get together. Chancey's most common trait is her brutal honesty, as she doesn't see a reason for not telling the truth right away and sometimes fails to have a filter to rearrange her speech to suit situations. Regardless, she retains a lot of energy and is almost always in a hurry about the things she is passionate about, occasionally using terms like 'ASAP' to demand speed. She finds what her teachers and fellow students do to the world intolerable and hates that she rarely sees others trying to save it. Since nature is her home, she will go to great lengths to try and save it and encourages other people to do small things like sort trash and tend to the school's flora. Friendly, tireless, creative, and with a great sensibility to the arts, Chancey is always willing to lend a hand and wise words to her friends. Her family is the most important thing to her, and she loves making them proud since she is very proud of her ancestors, with her favorite celebration being El Día de Los Fieles Difuntos. She has a small orange pet kitten named Tigger whom she is very affectionate with and often plays with in her free time. She doesn't watch much television and prefers to watch YouTube clips, although she is a big fan of the movie Ben and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Chancey is a petite brunette who has long, straight brown hair that is usually parted on one side, brown eyes, and a light skin tone, and she stands at 5 ft 0. in tall. She usually wears casual attire and prefers to wear jeans and t-shirts to dresses, as well as the simple look when it comes to her makeup. She is considered to be baby-faced by many of her peers and is always said to look slightly younger than she truly is. She is regarded as a great swimmer and keeps herself toned by practicing the sport, being a former member of her school's diving team. Chancey transfers to a private school sometime during her sophomore year, wanting her to be challenged more academically, although she continues to date Sterling steadily throughout the years. She earns a few online certifications and becomes an medical assistant, working part-time as the check-out person at a mental health clinic. She falls in love with Sterling and the two become engaged by the time she is in her final year of college, during which he becomes the area manager of a company that offers tax preparation services. They take a trip to Scotland that is cut short when she is suddenly offered a full-time job working at a laboratory, although they make plans to finish the remainder of their vacation a few years later. Chancey's family expresses disapproval of her marriage at first, but ultimately come to accept it when they realize how devoted she is to her husband. They go on to have four sons that are born in short succession, despite her suffering a miscarriage sometime in her late 20s. She moves to Midland, Texas with her family and has become self-employed by the time she is middle-aged, working from home. She starts a nonprofit organization that helps ensure adoptions for childless couples and is shown to have long, wavy hair that is fully white during her old age. INFP 6w5
