Reginald "Reggie" Cox- Afro-Trinidadian (mother); African American (father); Reggie Cox is a talkative and outgoing student at the high school whom has been Damien Frasier's best friend since meeting him in the 8th grade. For the most part, he comes across as an open, friendly, and easygoing kid who is also perceived as a very caring and loyal friend. At school, he is the class president and considers himself to be very cool, as he often charms others, including his friends with his quick wit. He usually serves as the voice of reason in his group of friends, and a realistic counterbalance to Damien's optimistic attitude, which sometimes causes conflict between the two. When it was revealed that Damien was on Kirsten Lundgren's so-called "Cool List", and that Reggie was on her other list known as "The Geek List" due to a grudge she had against him over running for class president, many of his classmates were surprised to find this out. He can become jealous of others if they steal his spotlight, which likely stems from his home life, where he is the often picked on middle child. He tends to hide a much softer side to himself however, which becomes apparent when he is alone and involved in his schoolwork. Despite his tough and aggressive demeanor, he is a polite, well-mannered, and considerate young man who is generally protective of those he cares about. Reggie is Damien's "lead-in" man, as when he is about to tell another of his Urban Legends, he usually introduces him, mentioning how the story has been passed "from kid generation to kid generation". He is a member of the school's wrestling team, but shows a geekier side to him with his love of gaming and fascination with anime shows, namely Naruto and anything related to it. He is open-minded and spontaneous, which makes him constantly try new things like the movies his classmates pick or his mother's baked goods.
He is also insightful and good at reading people, as he is frequently the one who gives advice to his friends or points out awkward things they do in social settings. Another facet of Reggie's personality that opposes Damien's is his weaker sense of morality, as he is far less open to helping others, and almost always attempts to dissuade him from doing so. He's also somewhat selfish, seen when he hesitated to tell his brother that his girlfriend was manipulating him in order to get benefits from him. Much like his father, he cares a great deal about his education and always maintains above average grades in school work, and is often viewed as the teacher's pet. Additionally, he is an aggressive flirt, as seen with the twins Desirae and Denise Gillespie, both of whom he claims to have a crush on although his affection later leans toward Desirae as he is aware of Desirae and Damien's mutual interest in one other. Reggie has demonstrated that he does have his nicer and more selfless moments however, as he is much more civilized, calm, mild-mannered, mature and serious around his family. He is a member of his school's debate team and has proven that he is very outspoken and confident in his opinions, challenging his classmate Phyllis Hatzilakos in his position for "free college". He is described as someone who is approachable and always makes other people enjoy his company, as well as "kind of thoughtful" at times. He is also known to be a bit cocky, as according to his mother, he usually thinks people are naturally thinking of him and it is said that he checks himself out every time he passes by a window. It is later revealed that Reggie used to be more timid growing up and struggled with social anxiety, which made him friendless for much of middle school.
He had a reputation among his classmates as "the kid who never said anything" and would rarely raise his hand in class or reach out to others. He slowly began to open up and eventually became more secure in his own skin after his mother signed him up for group therapy. He also found a sense of belonging among the other boys his age upon becoming more involved in sports, which helped him connect with his peers. Reggie also has hidden depths, as he is very good with computers and is considered to have the best technology skills among his peer group. He is shown to be very active on social media websites such as Twitter and uses popular electronic devices such as Apple's iPad. He is often seen playing video games with Damien and their good friends Eli Fonseca and Moses Guzman and owns an Xbox. The boys compliment his skill on Guitar Hero, and later in the episode, he manages to pass the million point mark on his own, a feat that was thought to be practically impossible. Reggie doesn't want to be like his father when he grows up and is afraid that he will lose touch with Desirae once they go to separate colleges, so much that he even considers is going to the College of William & Mary instead of UVA, his first choice. He first became attracted to her upon noticing that she was sweet, but sassy, and showed admiration for her aesthetic appearance and love of fashion. He invites her on a date to Sonic at one point, during which they share a milkshake in his car and enjoy each other's company before they begin kissing in the back seat. Her twin sister Desirae jokes that she wanted to "leave the two love birds alone" due to their frequently being found cuddling affectionately while seated on the bleachers. Damien also claims that he follows Mike Damone's "5 Point Plan" and lives by the motto of putting his friendships with his "bros" over any woman that could come into his life.
He becomes fiercely defensive if one of them is threatened and regularly spends every Friday night at his house in his "man cave" with them, which is a special space he created in his garage. He is very fun-loving and likes to save Polaroids in his room that preserve his most cherished memories, keeping a bulletin of them. He similarly plays basketball in his backyard with his older brother Roshawn and younger sister Kimberly in his down time. Reggie has a good relationship with his mother mainly because she's the only person who's ever been a true parent to him with his father's working long hours at his company. He sometimes runs errands for her and helps out in her shop, causing him to be mindful of his mother and her reputation, not wanting anybody to see her badly. Although his little sister can be annoying or rude, he still loves her, as she sometimes attends his wrestling matches, despite not being interested in them. She hugs him most of the time when either he or she do something that's a big deal and likes to following him around the house singing "Baby Shark". At times, Reggie helps out Damien, who has a general dislike for homework, as he feared he was falling behind and would have to repeat his sophomore year. While he does average to well in school, he occasionally receives help from Eli Fonseca, particularly in science, a subject that he struggles with. He enjoys reading books and loves the library, claiming that he read many exciting books over the summer, and his classmates were shocked after he left a book on the ground. He is the champion his school's spelling bee in the sixth grade, plays the drums in the school band, and is one of the founding members of the Valley Stream Pride Committee. Reggie is indeed not into contests, as while he has shown immense skills in winning game shows, he backs out at the last minute.
He is known to mumble his words whenever he evades somebody's questions and tends to "play with his glasses" without realizing it. There are also times where he does not understand other people's jokes, and he tends to take advantage of people in an attempt to gain popularity. He casually comments on how Mia Vasquez-Rivera was "not worth it" when Damien stares in defeat as she walks away holding Anthony Rodriquez hand, although he corrects Reggie by owning up to his actions and admitting that she was "the one who got away". Reggie is a tall boy who stands at 6 ft 0 and has short, cropped black hair, brown eyes, full lips, and a milk chocolate complexion. He wears glasses and is shown to have even teeth, which are his most noticeable trait, and he later begins to wear contacts. His favorite possession are his air Jordan's, and he kindly gives away a new pair he received for Christmas to a poor kid instead, serving as his "secret Santa". He also works part time at Abercrombie and Fitch at the local mall, where he previously held a job selling accessories, namely cell phone cases at a stand. According to his mother, Reggie's bedroom is a "always a mess", as he tends to store away junk food, namely cheetohs and twinkies, under his bed. He is a big fan of John Legend and likes to listen to R&B music in his spare time, although he also enjoys pop music from certain artists such as Ariana Grande and Christina Aguilera. He eventually attends the College of William & Mary, where he majors in computer science, securing a job working for the government shortly after graduation. He marries his high school sweetheart Denise in a double wedding with his best friend Damien and her twin sister Desirae before honeymooning with her in the Virgin Islands. ISFJ 3w2
