Barbara "Bebe" Sotelo- Irish-American (mother); Puerto Rican (father); Bebe Sotelo is a friendly and attractive student on the cheerleading squad who pursues an on-and-off relationship with Damien Frasier, a star basketball player. Before she reached high school, she was perceived as a stuck-up, egotistical, arrogant, snotty, rude, and mean person, as well as a stereotypical blonde popular girl who had money, style, and talent. She was a diva who looked down badly on "weirdos" such as Mia Vazquez-Rivera and her friends and lorded her partial Puerto Rican ancestry over the people of Valley Stream. Her parents spoiled her and seemed to encourage her behavior, which had greatly affected her psyche, to the point of valuing what her parents drive into her, which is money, winning, and looks. Bebe tends to be very fashionable and is known to always come to school in stylish, color-coordinated outfits, and she owns a YouTube account where she gives makeup tutorials. She developed breasts at an earlier age than many of her female classmates, causing some of the girls to give her a false reputation as a "slut" out of jealousy. She demonstrated minor signs of humbling down after she admits that she wishes to chose her own pathway in life and become a lawyer or marine biologist. She is shown to still be adjusting to her new lifestyle after she joins a few students in advocating against a racist flag design for the town. Bebe seemed to think that her family was better than everybody else's and that they were perfect, and when Damien gave her undeniable proof of her family's fraudulence, she did not take it very well initially. It is revealed however that she struggles with anxiety and only acts the way she does because her parents keep her in line with their tight standards on what being a Sotelo entails. 

With her friends' support, she makes a breakthrough by setting herself aside from her mother, displaying altruistic traits and having a complete change of heart towards everyone in town. Under her strict upbringing, she has also been taught that certain actions are unfitting of the upper class such as eating in the car. Bebe has likewise shown a certain amount of naivety in regards to common acts of kindness such as sharing, which she has struggled to break out of. Her sarcastic attitude and short-temper continue to surface on occasion, such as when she catches her lesbian classmate Millie Tipton staring at her chest and jokes if she "wants to feel it". She was reluctant to wear Hannah Quigley's llama sweater despite the necessity for the Zodiac ritual but relents after she glares at her. She is shown to be obsessed with her appearance, as she was raised by her parents to be perfect no matter what and constantly told that beauty was everything. Funny, easy-going, and kind, Bebe displays good self-esteem and likes to meet people and make friends, and she is also extroverted and thoughtful. Despite her charming demeanor, she is unable to be aware of others' true intentions and is mentioned to have a "horrible taste in guys", as her friend Meygan Davis repeatedly says. She can be overly-melodramatic at times, but is loyal and a surprisingly good friend, as when Millie told her that she had a crush on her, instead of forcing her to leave her house, she comforted and sympathized with her, giving her genuine affection. When she learned that Meygan was dating Erick Montenegro, she was also concerned about her well-being and attempted to advise her to take care of herself due to her previous experience with him. Bebe also shows that she has hidden depths, as she has a way with words and is shown to be a talented writer, having crafted a poem that was posted anonymously in the school newspaper.

She has dreams of one day moving to Manhattan and getting published as an author, or potentially having one of her works published in the New York Times. She tends to dumb down her intelligence around others however and is very much a follower, conforming to societal trends and what is expected of her to fit in. She is also quite flirtatious and artsy, with a love of painting and dancing and used to dance to hip-hop music when she was in the 4th grade. It is stated by Damien that Bebe used to spend her time "sexting" when she was alone in her room, and her cold and most apathic side of herself came off when it was about Bryce Lynch. She demonstrated in her journals that she genuinely hated him due to being the prototype of a "white man" who believes he can do whatever he wants to do because of his affluence. Despite these traits, she always loved her parents unconditionally and was very grateful for being raising with her mother's love and affection. She also appreciated Meygan and considered her an actual friend, as well as someone she could rely on and a genuine good and kind person. Bebe is a saucy girl however and is shown to be the most sexually experienced among her friends, having great insight into boys and how they work. Her uninhibited behavior caused some friction between herself and Damien, who became insecure in their relationship and suspected she was sleeping with another boy. She uses him initially to get free shoes, being under the impression that his father was the owner of a popular shoe store at the mall. Their romance blossoms over time and her attraction to him becomes more genuine, as she appreciates the fact that he is a "sensitive man" and is deeply enamored by the long texts he sends her at night. Bebe also has an interest in the paranormal and is a fan of astrology, describing herself as a "typical Leo" and claiming that she has ESP and can intuit things. 

She starred alongside a group of upperclassmen in the community center's production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show one Halloween. She has a talent for the performing arts and is known to be a clever mimic, being able to imitate accents from different countries with great accuracy. She works as the costume designer for her school's drama club and is often the one who does her friends' makeup for special events. Bebe is also confrontational when she needs to be and willingly stood up for herself while beating up her unpopular male classmate Levi Johanssen for directing an inappropriate comment at her. She is shown to be a fierce, kind, and caring person who is protective of those she cares about, but is also somewhat judgmental, selfish, and cruel at times. She was shown to have had a crush on Nolan Zorski, claiming he had a "nice ass", although she was never able to tell her directly that she liked him. While she treated him well, she mistreated him on a few occasions such as hurting his feelings after seeing the photograph that Damien took of her that was spread around the school and coldly placing him at the bottom of a list that she created with with her girlfriends. Bebe loves to party and has a very festive personality, as she enjoys being in the spotlight, as well as the center of attention. She has experimented with drugs such as LSD in the past and is normally the one who is planning the most anticipated social events. She was a member of the Prom Committee, which she wanted to be a Shipwrecked theme, in which she and Damien were crowned Prom Queen and King. She likes art and horseback riding with her grandmother Carmen, and when she rides Picasso, she feels like age has no matter. Bebe and her grandmother enjoy happy talks on a trail ride and singing to the horses, while she and her cousin enjoy the peace and quiet of just being with each other. She also attends cheerleading camp every summer as well, although she has to sit on the sidelines during the football game when she is involved in a car accident and has a broken wrist. 

She is a beautiful girl who has medium-length, curly dark brown hair that she normally dyes a honey blonde shade, light brown eyes, and an olive complexion. She stands at 5 ft 8 in tall and has a curvaceous build, which her classmates frequently tend to refer to as an hourglass figure. Bebe has an oval-shaped face and is shown to have perfectly sculpted eyebrows, which her mother waxes for her. She also prefers to wear black nail polish and mentions that she wears reading glasses, although she normally opts to wear contact lenses instead. She admits that she has a void in her heart and that sometimes seeks outside affirmation to feel good about herself and be of value to someone. She humiliates herself during her class' trip to Washington DC when she privately gives a college-aged boy a blow job and is ignored by him the next day. Bebe sees a therapist once a week whom has helped her acknowledge what her triggers are and given her a healthier perception of love. She and Damien break up permanently when she decides that she wants to focus on herself and prioritize her education above all else. She becomes more mature and levelheaded by the time she attends college at the University at Buffalo, where she becomes a sociology major. She takes pride in her Puerto Rican roots and will sometimes talk in Spanish under the assumption that others will not understand what she is truly saying. Bebe's favorite foods are cherry tomatoes and anything that is deep fried, such as fried onion rings, although one of the most savory dishes she has tried is her father's Mofongo. She is a fan of Justin Timberlake like most of her friends, although she tends to enjoy other popular music artists such as Taylor Swift and Drake. She has graduated college by her early twenties and claims to have pursued a career as a flight attendant, boasting about her many travels to her friends. She is shown to be the single mother to a daughter named Nevaeh, whom she resides with in Orlando, Florida, a city she has always loved.
