Wayne Kovac

Wayne Kovac- Czech ancestry; Wayne Kovac is a humble and self-possessed student who befriends Hannah Quigley and Mia Vasquez-Rivera while attending Syracuse University. He is an agreeable, compliant, and eager young man from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma who has continuously been regarded as a "good kid" by both his elders and peers. Characteristically hard-working and conscientious, he routinely proved to be a talented overachiever who diligently adhered to and completed his tasks, with an innate desire to please those around him and bring them together harmoniously. While he is gifted at portraying the role of the duteous, responsible child, he sometimes feels overlooked within his household as the eldest son, which led to his becoming increasingly self-sufficient as he tried to prove his competence to others. Self-effacing and unimposing, Wayne had a sense of autonomy and self-reliance from a young age, as well as an independent mind, and rarely cared about outside opinions as he single-mindedly focused on his goals and ambitions. His most noticeable trait is his rhotacism, a speech impediment that makes it somewhat difficult for him to pronounce his "r's". His unique speech patterns sometimes piqued other people's curiosity and had close friends of his joke that he "sounded British".  He nonetheless disregarded outside commentary and embraced his distinctive way of talking as one of his defining characteristics, and he claims that he is fluent in West Coast Rap. Wayne is generally composed, coolheaded, honest, and observant, preferring to remain neutral and uninvolved in the face of conflict and preventable disputes. Calm and untroubled, he is even-tempered and works diligently to serve as a role model for his younger siblings and fill her parents with pride. 

Despite being a sensible voice of reason among his peers, he generally tries to maintain cordial, peaceful relationships with others. He is accessible and polite, although he prefers to distance herself from emotional topics and react tactfully in social circumstances as a means of preventing misunderstandings and altercations. Despite his reasonable demeanor, Wayne can rely excessively on logic and be reluctant to express emotions or assert his true feelings. This in turn can lead to his reacting passively and shutting others out to maintain his inner peace as he filters out negative thoughts and emotions that can potentially lead to disturbances. During particularly unsettling circumstances, he is inclined to distance himself from others and immersing himself in his own mind and thoughts, which can lead him to seem self-absorbed and careless. His task-oriented nature can make him oblivious to the feelings of others, disregarding his good friend Lisa Hirsch-Solis lingering attraction toward him and appearing dismissive when exposed to Hannah's past. Wayne is still a friendly individual who tries to bridge the gap between hard logic and emotion, often undertaking the role of a mediator and listener as he tries to maintain this balance. He also expresses a willingness to adhere to the laws and regulations of his community, and with a love and desire for order. He doesn't mind undertaking the roles of a peacemaker when his mother's emotions overtake her as she tries to serve as his father's caregiver. Resourceful and shrewd, his quick-mindedness and perceptiveness gives him the capacity for foresight and resilience, with a certain stubbornness and slight sarcasm to him as he tries to brighten his life with creative solutions. Headstrong and intelligent, Wayne is tenacious and mature, quietly striving to accomplish goals without assistance and endure his struggles calmly. 

He is more practical and grounded in nature than his good friends Hannah Quigley, Mia Vasquez-Rivera, and Lisa Hirsch-Solis are. He has a reputation of being a hard worker who continuously attempts to actualize his dreams in order to achieve a better reality. He tends to poke fun at his good friend and fellow colleague Rafe Nichols' softness and delicateness as well, often remarking on his sensitivity to criticism when they playfully debate with one another during discussions. Wayne's favorite foods are poppyseed cake, quinoa, kolaches, cauliflower cupcakes, Extra chewing gum, and his family's Christmas carp, meanwhile his favorite video game is Total Turbo XXII. At 21, he has since moved into his own off-campus apartment as he tries to manage his college courses and progress academically. He has stated that he wanted to prioritize and focus exclusively on his studies upon enrolling in college, claiming to have little time for romance or a girlfriend despite finding some of his female peers to be objectively attractive. He nevertheless developed lingering feelings for his longtime admirer Lisa, whose friendship with him gradually evolved into a mutual romantic attraction. Wayne is a junior expert plumber, which is seen after her uses an auger nicknamed Big Bertha to unclog the toilet, although he also aims to clog the toilet himself with his own excrement. Another example took place when he fixed a shower, and he also possesses extensive knowledge in automotive repair and machinery. He and Lisa continue to support each other as he pursues his Bachelor's degree in Finance and Lisa completes her Computer Engineering degree. The two bonded while sitting in the campus' hallways by chance and developed an instant connection, leading them to engage in a series of study dates that led to a budding romance. 

Wayne is a Capricorn and has a rather close relationship with his mother, with many people constantly referring to him as her "twin". He also has many things in common with Lisa, as they often watch Adult Swim and play video games together, although he tends to be the one who reels his friend in when she goes too far with her passionate debates. He is a Centrist who is skeptical of social media and usually has a good time mocking celebrities, metrosexuals, and scientology, and he also jokes about how everything is banned in China. He prefers to keep to himself in group settings and is not inclined to get involved in other people's schemes or discuss his personal views publicly, yet feels an immense dislike towards those whom engage in animal abuse. Wayne has a strong moral compass for the most part and has been known to randomly do something kind, although he will only go so far to help others. His friends joke that while his father is an idealist who sees things for what they could be, he sees things for what they are and "knows exactly how messed up the world can be". He claims that he once had to read a terrible novel called Tangerine when he was in the 8th grade for an assigned reading. He was a popular and high-achieving teen who seemed confident but struggled with severe imposter syndrome, using over-preparation to hide his fear of failure. Wayne appears to lose much of his usual composure when it comes to trying to impress a female that he likes however and once went through a brief emo phase upon having his heart broken by a girl named Brielle, whom had feelings for someone else. He and Brielle, who has a frenulum piercing had been an on-and-off couple since the 7th grade, and he admitted that he was not only fascinated by her beauty, but the fact that she had strong opinions. 

He has stated that he needs a partner whom is intellectually compatible with him and also capable of being independent, without needing constant reassurance from others. He does not mind interacting casually with his peers and even has an extended group of guy friends whom he eats lunch with, but also enjoys his solitude and needs time alone. Wayne has a hidden introspective side and has been described as the kind of person whom will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and ponder the meaning of existence. He occasionally clashes with his father, whom is known for being overenthusiastic and doing things on a whim, which heavily contrasts with his serious, more levelheaded demeanor. While he mainly tries to do the right thing, there have been times in which he has been known to go back on his value system and do questionable things, specifically if it involves money or his social standing. He is also fond of Harbor Freight Tools and sees it as one of his favorite places of all time, and there have been stories of him nearly attacking a man whom was "wrestling" an alligator at the state fair due to his believing that the animal was in danger. Despite his reputation, Wayne still did some surprisingly reckless things in his teens, such as drinking with his peers and becoming addicted to caffeine pills while stressed over the SATs. He also went between second and third base with a girl at a house party, which involved fingering along undergarments and once wasted hundreds of dollars on a Japanese toilet. While he has had his share of foolish moments, he is a smart individual whom people often turn to for guidance and rarely gives his parents many reasons to worry about him. His mother is supportive and has a soft spot for him, becoming protective when he gets hit in the arm during a school shooting, resulting in his wearing a cast and SWAT members showing up. 

Wayne is described as having a slim build and is characterized by his long, slender arms and legs and narrow chest and abdomen. He has slightly rounded, rich brown eyes that are paired with an oblong face and unkempt, rufous strands of shaggy hair, alongside his hooked nose that has a bent shape. This gives him somewhat of a gawky, ungainly appearance that more often makes him regarded as "cute" rather than handsome. The type of peanut butter and jelly sandwich that he prefers does not have much jelly, has the crusts removed, and is cut into four triangles. Wayne's owes $345.14 to the local library for overdue books and is not skilled at arts and crafts, and his biggest pet peeve is when the salad bar runs out of croutons. He describes himself as "98% water" and wants to travel to Antarctica in the summertime for 24 hour daylight research, and while he does not speak Russian fluently, he does know how verbs and adjectives interact in it. It is shown that he likes rap/hip-hop music and brain waves studies, as he is often seen listening and singing along to it with a pair of headphones, and he owns a lightning rod and thinks rodents are "stimulating". He still takes naps and sometimes sleepwalks, and he used to tie his shoes with the "bunny ears" technique, but stopped doing it a month ago. Wayne is also very good at speed stacking and once had a snow globe collection, in addition to playing the theremin and wearing orthodontic headgear overnight. He states that he likes kelp leather and the sound of "juvenile fun" and tends to hold a teaspoon of sugar under his tongue to get rid of the hiccups. He and Lisa fall in love and marry each other upon graduating college after trying to maintain an enduring romance, living their lives together in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. They later decide to raise a small family together and pursue their dreams, with Lisa's work for Apple and Wayne's career as a financial analyst.
