Severus walked into the Great hall, his optimism flew out of the window when he saw Remus sitting next to Irene. He squinted hi eyes, annoyance was bubbling in his chest when he realized the other seat next to her was accompanied by Hagrid, and it meant he could not sit beside her like he always did.

He never thought he would be enraged because of a seat, just a freaking seat, but when it came to her, even thw Smallest thing could mess with his head. He huffed and sat next to Minerva, who quickly noticed how grumpy the potions master was, and did not go unnoticed by her when he glared at lupin, when he made her giggle.

"Did you wake up on the other side of the bed, Severus?"

Minerva asked, taking a sip of her tea. Severus cocked his eyebrow at her, his lips twitching slightly, holding himself back from scowling at the older witch.

"There is no wrong side of my bed.."

He muttered angrily, avoiding her eyes when he heard her soft voice chuckle. He knew she was going to act as if she realized what he was feeling, and as much as he hated to admit it, Minerva always knew what he truly felt.

"Calm down Severus. Irene is your soulmate, not his"

She set her cup on its small place with a clink. He smirked when Severus's eyes grew wide and heat rushed towards his cheeks as he realized it was obvious to Minerva that he was angered by the fact that Remus was so close with Irene now.

"I don't know what you're implying"

"You are murdering Remus with your eyes, Severus. I'm not oblivious.."

She sighed, pretending as if she was enjoying her breakfast while actually she was just enjoying how flustered Severus was. He scoffed under his breath and held himself back from looking towards her way, not wanting to see how lupin was making her smile.

He was getting used to having Irene by his side, and it was bothering him when she had another friend. Severus would never care if she was close friends with someone else, he was not going to control her life. But he could see the look in Remus' eyes everytime his eyes landed on her, and Severus could tell that the new professor was starting to harbor feeling for her.

As soon as Severus finished hi breakfast, Severus quickly stood up from his chair, ready to leave the hall. He could not bring himself to stay there any longer as he was getting annoyed, when he knew he had no right to stop her from being friends with Remus.

Severus made a promise to be a good friend, and that was what he was going to be.

Just as he was about to leave, with a heavy heart in his chest, he was surprised when Irene walked over to him. His heart thumped rapidly against his chest, upon seeing he enchanting smile which could light up his whole world. Severus immediately turned into a sappy wizard when it came to her, he knew it by now.

"Severus, do you want to walk with me to my office?"

She asked, more than an invitation that a question, as she was not expecting him to reject her offer. Severus opened his mouth to say something, but then he just nodded, smiling at her.

"Happy now Severus?"

Minerva whisperd to him, but not loud enough for Irene to hear her. Before Severus could say anything to argue with her, Minerva left, a smirk was painted on her face.

Severus felt a twinge of jealousy in his chest when you waved at Remus, smiling at him as she walked out of the hall with Severus. But all of his negative feelings were vanishing when he told himself that her soul longed for his and if that was not enough to convince him, he did not know what would.

"What are you doing today Severus?"

"More paper work, my schedule is full today."

He sighed, and she nodded. She wanted to come talk to him about how he was feeling sence she felt something was off with him.

Severus watched as she walked away to her office leaving him at his office door.

Later that evening, the sun was setting as the snow covered the ground.

Severus was sitting in his office grading papers as Irene walked in, he stood up from his desk and stood in front of her as she looked up at his dark eyes.

"Could I talk to you Severus?"

She said, holding a piece of folded parchment.

"Is it about remus..?"

"Can you please stop talking about remus?"

She snapped, pinching the bridge of her nose as she leaned against the stone wall.

"You need to be careful around him Irene..."

"I know, Severus. But I'm wanting to know about you, not him."

Severus sighed, leaning against the edge of his desk.

She was hoping that he would appreciate her appearance there, instead of nagging her about how careless she was around lupin. Severus never realized it, but she was getting tired of hearing his advice, when all she wanted was to have some decent conversation with her soulmate.

"I just want you to be careful around him, Irene..."

He reminded her, for the thousandth time, and it was enough for her to let her anger fog out. And before he knew it, Lupin's secret was spilling out of her mouth.

"But why, Severus? Is it because he is a werewolf?"

She fumed, and his eyes grew wide, realizing that lupin told her his secret.

"Did you tell him what you are...?"

His voice became lower glancing at her, she shook her head.

"I know what he is Severus..."

She added, only for Severus to think of how meaningful she was in lupins life to tell her so soon, even if the professor only knew her for a few months.

"He told you...?"

He asked, more to a statement than a question. Watching as she leaned away from the wall, ready to leave his office before either of them could say anything that they might regret later. She nodded, smiling weakly at her soulmate, the one who still held her heart in his hands.

"He did. He trusts me Severus."

His heart clenched, seeing her walk to the door of his office but stoping, griping onto the door handle at his words.

"You just can't help yourself can you...?"

He spat, she turned sharply looking at him with anger in her eyes.

"What are you talking about...?"

She asked, he heart was screaming at them to stop fighting, as it would turn ugly without them even realizing it.

"You are just so thirsty for love, for what happened to you three years ago, wanting to prove that you are not weak like your ex husband claimed you to be, until you fall in love with every person who shows you some affection. How pathetic..."

He was driven by anger, and clearly regretting his words as soon as he was her face drop as tears welded in her eyes. He used her insecurities against her, when all she did was trust him.

"Irene, your not-"

She ran out the room slamming the door behind her, before he could chase after her the door slammed Infront of his face.

Severus knew he had hurt her too far, the trust that he had built, was crumpling down becouse of his own doing.

Her heels clicked against the stone floor aggressively as she ran down the corridor, turning the corner sharply, and bumping into someone. She glanced up to see Remus looking down at her with a worried face, he could see the pain in her eyes as he pulled her into a hug as she cried in his chest.

Tears of anger rolled down upon Severus's face. He knew she was mad at him and he would rather for her to scream at him, or even hit him but not to run away from him like that again.
