"because I love you, Irene!"

Severus' eyes grew wide realizing what he just said.

He knew how much she meant to him, but he was not sure if she was still in love with him, after all he had done to her in the past.

He was not used to people loving him, and now he just yelled out her loved her. He looked down at the ground flustered cursing himself for what he said as she looked at him with shock.

Severus wanted to deny his love for her, but he couldn't, not anymore, not after what he just did. His mind was telling him to distance himself from her, perhaps he would not be hurt if she rejected him, but his heart was longing for her.

"What...?"

She asked almost in a whisper, he swore he saw a small smirk on her lips but he wanted sure.

He stepped back away from her as his face became more fed by the second.

"I-I..."

He stuttered at his words, not sure what to say, afraid that she would reject him.

"You love me...?"

She stepped closer to him as her heart raced within her chest, he nodded.

"I've loved you ever since I laid eyes on you.."

He found himself saying things he could never say to her, she took his hand in hers as the tension between them vanished.

"I was just never sure how to tell you..."

She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly, he hesitantly hugged her back.

"I've always loved you too, Severus..."

His heart beat rapidly against his ribcage as he held her against his chest tightly.

"My room is a disaster again"

They both chuckled as they let go of each other.

"I wouldn't mind if you spent another night in my room, in fact I would enjoy it.."

He let a low chuckle as they walked down the dark corridor to his room. She felt as if something was wrong, as if he was hiding something from her, keeping a secret.

They walked into his room as she closed the door behind them. She gripped his arm catching him by surprise, she rolled up his sleeves but saw nothing.

"What are you looking for, Irene...?"

She hovered her hand over his arm saying something underneath her breath.

"Reveal..."

He pulled his arm away quickly, her eyes grew wide at the dark mark on his arm. She stepped back trying to keep the tears welding in her  eyes to not roll down her face.

"I had a feeling you were hiding something. Is this it? All this time Severus?"

"Irene, let me explain..."

He tried to hold her hand but she turned her back to him, he looked at the scars on her back as she hasn't taking off her dress from the ball. A certain scar catches his eyes that was just below her tailbone, barley to be seen, he looked at the dipper contemplating to see the rest of the scar.

"What is this scar on your tailbone...?"

He stepped closer to her as she turned around to face him.

"It's nothing, not important. What am I going to do..."

"What do you mean...?"

"Nevermind, we should sleep..."

Later that night she found herself in Severus' bed again. She fell asleep looking at the charcoal colored ceiling as it reminded her of the night sky with no stars.

Severus woke up sweating, he usually doesn't start in his sleep, he looked down to see her asleep on his chest, he gently ran his hands across her raven black wings that were spread across the bed. His face burned red, he was so grateful to have her as his soulmate. Her warm vanilla perfume allowed him to fall back asleep without any nightmares.

It was still late at night, almost four in the morning, Severus woke up to Irene still asleep on his chest.

"Irene, wake up. Minerva and Albus are going to become suspicious if we don't go to breakfast..."

He said nudging her, but she didn't respond. Color drained from his face as he sat up holding her, she was still breathing but asleep. The only people who may know what could be wrong with her were Minerva and Albus, and he sent a letter to them immediately telling them to come quickly.

SORRY that it's so short been busy again.
