She hid behind a corner watching through a mirror on the wall, she watched as Dumbledore stood near the edge as Severus pointed his wand at him.
"Severus, please..."
Albus said, almost in a whisper. He glanced at the mirror seeing Irene there, he gave her a look telling her to not interfere.
"Havada Kadavara..."
She saw a flash of green light hit him as he fell down the edge, she quickly ran down the stairs in hopes to catch Albus before he hit the ground, Severus turned around to just see the ends of her hair disappear down the stairs, he quickly chased after her. The feeling of betrayal and anger rushed through her body, tears rolling down her face as she continued to run down the stairs with Severus right behind her.
"Irene, wait"
He yelled, but she didn't respond, he stopped as he watched her run down the steps, he knew he wouldn't be able to catch her this time.
She knelt down to Albus as tears ran down her face, Minerva rested her hand on her shoulder telling her to calm down but she couldn't. She stood up glancing at Severus and Bellatrix walked out to Hagrid's hut.
She walked after them, clenching the promise ring Severus gave her one year for her birthday.
"Snape!"
He quickly turned around to the sound of her voice, he knew she was angry at him but he wouldn't expect her to be that angry with him. Guilt rushed through his chest when he remembered seeing her in the mirror's reflection when he came up the stairs.
"He trusted you, I trusted you..."
She said stopping herself from walking closer to him, his heart ached to see the tears run down her face as she yelled at him.
"I'm sorry..."
He said almost in a whisper. She waved her hand quickly as a wave of black fire shot towards him, he blocked it with his wand, he looked at her with pain in his eyes.
She stepped closer, sending more spells at him, he stood his ground, continuing to black them. He could see the betrayal and anger in her eyes as his heart continued to ache.
"Fight back, fight back you coward!"
Her words pierced his heart, she sent another spell that sent him stumbling back.
"Lestrange sent a spell that hit her in the side, she fell onto the ground unconscious as she ring fell from her hand.
"Bring her..."
She said with a small chuckle as she sent Hagrid's hut on fire, Severus quickly looked at her as the men picked Irene up, Draco stood next to Severus watching, feeling guilty. After all, Irene was his favorite teacher.
"Why? She is not involved in this..."
The men stood next to lestrange holding her.
"She belongs to the dark Lord"
The color drained from Severus' face as he glanced at Irene, walking into the forest.
That night I dreaded him. He felt sick to his stomach when he saw her in that reflection of the mirror and running down the stairs, knowing she would hate him.
What bothered him the most, is what secrets she has been hiding from him, and what Bellatrix meant by 'she belonged to the dark Lord'. Guilt was eating him at that moment, when he said that curse, everything stopped for a minute, until Bellatrix screamed in victory.
What hurt him the most that night was the women he loved, throwing spells at him, Her screaming for him to fight back as tears of betrayal and anger rushed down her soft face. He would never want to hurt her again, but she was tempting him to hug her. He didn't blame her, she trusted him and he destroyed it in a matter of seconds.
When he first saw her sitting amongst the professors, he thought she was childish and unprofessional. He knew she would change his life for the better just as he did over the years but now, he is losing her. He never wanted her to be mixed up in this mess.
