i spent the day plastered with a fake smile. i told myself to keep it together for the kids.

when they got home, they greeted me with the biggest smiles.

i asked them how school was while preparing them a snack. they told me about the latest drama of the kids in their class.

about the teachers they don't like and the ones they love.

it made me forget for a moment. until later when i went to check on her in her room and she was playing with the air bison toy.

the one i gave her when she was born. and the one korra won for me back before we were dating at the glacier spirits festival.

"you okay, mama?" she spoke up.

"huh? yeah, baby, i'm fine." i said quietly. i quickly left and went into my room.

asami was helping blossom with her homework while syaoran and korra were trading.

i closed the door to the bedroom and sat on the floor, covering my mouth to not make too much noise.

but i cried and cried, so much that it physically hurt. i wanted ro rip my hair out of the roots, i wanted to scratch my arms and legs, i wanted to scream until my throat hurt.

but i cried silently into my arms until i heard the overlapping voices of the kids.

"i'm still hungry, where's mama?"

"leave her alone."

"fine, i'm still getting another snack."

"i'm gonna tell on you!!"

i quickly sighed and got up from the floor. i walked over to the bathroom connected to our room and washed my face.

after cleaning my self up, i walked back out like nothing happened.

syaoran was trying to get another snack from the cabinet and i let them get one more.

asami yelled me not to give them more than one because then they won't be hungry for dinner later, but it's fine.

"thanks, mama." he said as i handed him another little pack of cookies.

"sure, babe." i sighed.

he was about to walk away but looked back at me.

"you okay?" he asked.

"uh, yeah. i'm just a little tired today, don't worry." i said to him. he nodded and walked away to sit with his sister.

i watched before turning back to face the stove. i quickly wiped under my eyes to make sure there were no tears and started to clean up.

korra came up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder.

"hi."

"hey. i'm okay. i just needed a break." i said quietly.

"that's okay, uh.." she looks at the kids behind us and then back at me.
