the next day, we went to work. asami agreed to take some time off to stay with the kids at home while korra and i would be at the police department.

we had a meeting organized with me and korra, mako, bolin, opal, tenzin, tonraq, and lin.

to figure out how we'd get the gangs off my back and away from my family.

the first idea was to dissolve them, obviously. but it's much easier said than done.

mako, bo, lin, and i were the only ones who truly understood that.

while they there around ideas of what to do, mako, bo and i would share glances with each other whenever someone suggested an idea that wasn't safe at all.

i did have an idea in mind but i wouldn't say it unless i absolutely had to.

to turn myself in in exchange for my family's safety. i'd let the gangs kill me, take me away, or whatever as long as they didn't touch the city or my family again.

because i'm not doing this to protect myself. i'm doing this so my kids never have to be scared like this again. so they can grow up not having to look over their shoulder all the time.

it isn't fair. their problems are with me, not them.

so if worse comes to worse, that's what i'll do.

but for now, we just have to keep watching the streets more carefully.

"more officers stationed in alleyways, securing public stores, patrolling the old neighborhoods." lin said.

"what about a curfew? eight for teenagers or kids and ten for adults." mako suggested.

"that's good." lin told him.

"what else can we do? this is directly protecting the public and your family.." tonraq looks at me.

"but what about the gangs?"

"that's more complicated than you might think. gangs are always bigger than we anticipate, just when we think we got them all, there'll be members hiding out, spread out all over the city." lin explained.

"so, how can we get rid of them all at once?" korra asked.

"how did you and mako manage to do it the first time?" tenzin asked me.

"it took us a year to even plan for that. i have to protect my family now. first it was mango, i don't know who they're gonna go for next." i said.

"we need to lure them out somehow. big gangs don't gather together unless it's something big." lin said.

i thought about the last time all the gangs got together, and it was back during the revolution when amon was in power.

and another time when another gang was introduced and was trying to take over triple threat territory.

"what if we spread a rumor? a new gang is in town and is trying to claim triple threat territory? just like a couple ten years ago, remember?" i suggested.

"oh, i remember that. the triple threats, the monsoons, and the agni kais all got together in some underground factory where that new gangs' base was." mako added.

"would that work?" bo asked lin.

"alright, yeah. we'll do that." she muttered.

"that sounds risky." tonraq muttered. korra looks up at her dad.
