Noah Narration:
Receiver of Memory:

"Noah" She said, speaking not to him alone but to the entire community of which he was a part of, "you will be trained to be the next Receiver of Memory. We thank you for your childhood."

Then she turned and left the stage, leaving him there alone still dumbfounded. Standing and facing the entire crowd, which began spontaneously started shouting his name.

The louder it got Noah knew, the community was accepting him and his new role, given him life, his heart swelled with nervousness. Wondering if he can fulfill his role.

All memories of the past are held by the Receiver of Memory, to shield the rest of the community. Receiver of Memory and the giver are the only people able to see in color, which is otherwise eliminated from the community to prevent envy.

It's a library of every memory in the Community, from the bad to the good. These memories include memories from before the Community was ever founded.

Next, is the Giver the person who has served the community as the Receiver of Memories and is responsible for training the new Receiver. Before the ceremony, the community does not remember ever interacting with the Giver.

Unidentified Aircraft:

A year ago an unidentifiable aircraft had overflown our community twice. Sleek jet. Then a moment later another came from the other direction. It was against the rules for pilots to fly over the community.

Occasionally supplies were delivered by cargo planes to the landing field across the river. The children often rode their bikes hoping they can see them. After unloading they were taken to the west. Away from the community.

But a year ago the aircraft had been different. Everyone stopped for an explanation of the frightening event.

Then all citizens were told to go into the nearest building. Through the announcement: "leave the bicycles where they are"

Within minutes the speakers came on saying a pilot training had misread his navigational instructions & made a wrong turn.

the pilot was trying to make his way back before being noticed. He will be released. Their was an ironic tone as the speaker found it amusing. Realizing what grim statement it had been.

For a contributing citizen to be released from the community was a final decision, terrible punishment & a statement of failure
the children were scolded if they used the term lightly.
