Time has passed, and the dusk is slowly setting in.
The car was filled with silence until we arrived at the destination.
The moment we step outside the car, I saw a military camp in the vicinity. Tents of various sizes and several soldiers are all I can see from my point of view - Thanks to the candle lamps lighting the outside I can see them, vaguely. This must be near North, where the country Kon attacked – Given all the soldiers out here.
But why did they bring me here?
Are they really suspecting me of being a spy...?
A... naked spy...
General Roger finally uncuffed me when we were finally inside one of the bigger tents, must be his. Inside was a big foldable bed, a bag filled with clothes in it, a chair, a desk with some papers on top, and a rifle gun. He watched me very closely while I sat on the bed nearby.
"Is this even a machine? I didn't notice when we were at the headquarters..." he muttered. "What do you call it... It's so... human-like. It's creeping me out..."
"..." Mr. Aaron looked at me, pausing for a bit. "...Is that so," he said, looking away from me.
"Based on his looks, he somewhat looks like twenty years old. He's about the same age when Jacob started his military service- "
"Please," Mr. Aaron cut him off, "let's not talk about that."
"..."
That's the second time I saw Mr. Aaron with that expression.
"...Sorry," General Roger apologized.
A long awkward pause came.
Wait...
Jacob. Isn't that the one who wrote the letter I read the other day? He's Mr. Aaron's son -Since he referred to Mr. Aaron as 'Pa' - Short for 'Papa', I think. I'm not entirely sure. But from the content of the letter, there's a high chance I'm right.
Anyways, back to the current situation.
Hoping to change the atmosphere inside the tent, General Roger asked me about what happened right after Mr. Aaron went outside his apartment room. I didn't ask any further why but –
"Understood," I said.
I then proceed to tell them. There's no reason for me, or can't rather, to refuse in the first place.
"You've been through a lot today huh? But man, jumping from forty feet building and chasing someone with no clothes on?" General Roger chuckled. "You really are a dumb machine just like Aaron said."
From creep to a spy...
Now I'm being called a dumb machine...
Do I deserve this? I don't know...
"Can you now please tell me what's happening," I asked both of them, "and the reason you brought me here?"
"...The reason?" General Roger repeated. "You haven't told him yet?" He looked at Mr. Aaron and asked.
"How am I supposed to tell him?" Mr. Aaron replied. "He... always disappears from my eyes..." he said in a low tone, staring down at the floor. Again, with the same expression that he wore last time.
"...Y-Yeah," he said, "Y-You're right... you got a point..."
"...?"
Is it just me or the atmosphere became awkward again...?
"General Roger, can I come in?" Someone outside the tent asked.
"P-Perfect timing," General Roger stuttered. "C-Come in, come in."
