"So, what makes you happy?" she asked as I froze staring at her.
"I wouldn't be able to tell you that as of right now." I said blankly trying to act cool as if I didn't get hung up by that question.
"Why is that? By all means you can have many things or people be that for you. Sometimes happiness isn't just about the feeling you felt yesterday or how you may feel tomorrow. How do you feel in this- what is exuding happiness for you right now, here. In this moment?" She states.
"This mustard yellow colored outfit I decided to put on today. It makes me look bright, my spring water" I take a sip. "And me just being here getting the help I need from you." I express.
"See! no need to overcomplicate things. I know when I had asked the question initially you were probably thinking about your childhood, yesterday, habits, routines, blah blah blah. Although, those things might bring you happiness. Being in tune right here right now and expressing your gratitude or simply how these things make you feel in the moment can be a grounding experience. We get too caught up in the past and the future that we forget about everything in the present. Realizing however that present situation, thing, place or outfit made you feel will in time make you love it even more as it is a gift".
"I understand" I nod.
"You stated that the mustard yellow colored outfit that you have on right now makes you look bright, correct?"
"Yes." I laugh.
"What did you mean by look?" She squinted her eyes.
"Well, usually I where more darker colors which I think dims my energy. With wearing colors, I wouldn't normally wear aka bright or lighter colors... I give off inviting energy."
"Inviting?" She asks.
"Yes. Makes people wanna come up and talk with me more or it makes me look like I'm a happy person." I say taking a drink from my water bottle.
"Understand that you can wear any color you want to and still be a happy person or a person someone wants to talk to. So, maybe it's not the colors you're wearing on you but the colors you wear in you. Something to think about because my time here with you is up." She states while she gets up for a hug.
"Definitely something to think about." I say hugging her back.
