"Good morning, Da-eun! How are you feeling today?"
I heard Sungmi brightly say when we saw Da-eun woke up. Today, we will hear the results from her doctors and Raon will finally go home.
I already received a message from Raon saying their charter plane will be flying in an hour. She sent me her flight details, too.
I also got one from Jungkook saying good morning and that he will drop by later. I replied and almost said that he shouldn't bother coming in. I don't know if I'm ready to see him after what he said to me last night.
There are just so many things happening all at the same time but I want to focus on Da-eun first. I will worry about Jungkook after.
Sungmi was feeding Da-eun and I was drinking my coffee when the doctors came in. I immediately stood up and put down my cup.
"Good morning. I know we've met already but I will introduce ourselves again, nonetheless. I'm Professor Sun. And this is my resident, Dr. Han Yeojin." The professor started. "We're aware that Da-eun's parents aren't here. Do they know what happened already?"
"Ah, yes, professor. Da-eun's mother is already informed. She's actually on her way back here in Seoul though it might take her a day or two before she gets here." I informed him. I glanced at the lady doctor beside him. Her eyes were roaming around the room as if searching for something. It was only quick though and her attention was back to what the professor was saying.
"Oh, that's great." He nodded then turned serious. "Well, we have the results of all Da-eun's tests. We've compared them with the ones she had when she was born and we found that the opening between her aorta and pulmonary artery didn't close, not even a little. Her symptoms were an indication of this. And we're afraid they may get worse if we let the hole stays open. So our only option here is for Da-eun to undergo a transcatheter PDA closure. This procedure presents less risk and shorter recovery time which we all want for someone small and young like Da-eun."
"We were already told about this, Professor when Da-eun was born. But they said the hole may close on its own. But it didn't...will the procedure be painful for her?"
"Don't worry, Da-eun will be sedated." Dr. Han said and gave me an assuring smile. "And it will only be quick, about 45 minutes."
"That's nice to hear," I replied, nodding. "When should we do it?"
"As soon as possible. We recommend doing it right away. We need her parents' consent, though. And her mother's not here so we cannot do it yet. We'll discharge Da-eun today and we advise you to go back once her mother's here. Then we can schedule the procedure accordingly." She replied and the Professor was nodding in agreement.
"We will wait for her mother so we can talk to her." The Professor said. "Dr. Han will be working closely with Da-eun moving forward. I'll see you soon." He said then turned to the lady doctor. "Tell them what the child needs to take for the medication leading to the procedure. I just have to go now for a conference."
