CHAPTER-V

Jungkook stared around the room in annoyance. His eyes flickered to the king size beds on either side and then towards the bathroom in the middle. And then back to the beds again. He glared hard, like they had insulted him. “I’ve heard too many of Junghoon's dumb romance novels to know this shouldn’t be happening,” he grumbled to himself.

His focus darted towards the door, where Taehyung appeared and was now standing awkwardly with his belongings in his hands. He watched as his eyes averted from Jungkook and into the room, looking pleased with how it was set up. He stepped closer and moved over to the vacant bed furthest away from the other.

Jungkook observed - as he always did when it came to him - as he placed his bag gently on the bed and stripped down from his outerwear, leaving him with just his shirt and trousers. Ignoring Jungkook purposely as he fiddled with everything and anything he could set his eyes on.

“Why are there two beds here?” Jungkook asked and plopped down mindlessly. He felt the fabric between his fingers, giving Taehyung the chance to speak. But he didn’t. Instead he twisted his head at an angle and feigned innocence.

“What do you mean?”

“I asked for the best king room.”

He nodded. And then turned around to face him. “This is what you requested, I made sure there were two beds.”

“You didn’t have to.”

“I did it for myself.”

Of course.

“Scared you won’t be able to control yourself around me?”

Taehyung snorted, “If that’ll make you sleep at night, then sure. That’s the reason.”

A couple minutes went past and neither of them spoke, Taehyung did everything he could to not feel the silence too loud. But it was difficult, when Jungkook didn’t move an inch, he just sat and watched him. He followed Taehyung's every movement; the way he picked up his wash bag every few seconds, how he moved between the space and how much effort he put to be as far away from him as he could.

“We're alone right now,” Jungkook drew out, carefully.

Taehyung tensed. His steps halted on his way to the bathroom. Jungkook was aware this fact wasn’t unknown to both of them, and he was sure it was the reason Taehyung was trying so hard to do everything but to acknowledge it. He looked away as Taehyung settled his eyes on him. Patiently waiting for him to continue. Jungkook bit the inside of his cheek and shrugged his shoulders. “Are you scared?”

Taehyung turned and crossed his arms. “Should I be?”

Surprised, Jungkook shook his head slowly.

“Then I’m not.”

Another awkward silence was shared, before Taehyung spoke again. “I’ll head into the wash first then.”

“Go ahead.”

Once Taehyung was gone, Jungkook placed his luggage at the foot of the bed and tossed his own wash bag to the side, loosening his shirt. He pressed his foot on the side of the bedframe and kicked it once, not too hard, just to experiment. He waited for any noise from the bathroom, before lifting his foot to repeat his attack.

“I made sure to note how many extra beds were in the storage,” Taehyung told him. “There are seven.”

He dropped his weight back on the duvet and just stared at his clasped hands between his legs. After a few seconds of silence he fell back and sighed. “I dropped my luggage.”
