As I sit down in the hotel chairs with my lawyer, we look over the divorce papers.

I didn't waste any time. I immediately googled divorce lawyers and got straight to business.

I felt annoyed as for some odd reason, my lawyer has been trying to contact Damon and for some odd reason he's nowhere to be found.

He's really an asshole.

I wanted to finalize this shit before I move but I guess he will be stubborn about it. But I also don't want him to get in the way of my plans, I won't allow him to get in the way.

"What can I possibly do? I wanted this to be a civil and peaceful divorce but my husband is trying every chance he can get to keep me close to his side. It's very like him..." I say.

My lawyer sighs and he looks at me.
"You would have to get a divorce petition. But I must say.. this process will take longer than you expected because of his refusal to cooperate and to sign the papers."

I bet you are laughing at this. You find this funny. The divorce papers were sent to your house and you didn't answer. You didn't answer because I said that I was going to immediately divorce you.

Even during our separation, you won't let me go.

If only you had this energy when we were together.....

I nod.
"Fine, whatever I need to do. I'm also planning to move to another country. Will I not be able to?".

He looks at his computer and I wait.
"Uhh as long as you can come back for the court hearings and I'll be able to reach you.. sure. Where exactly?".

I laugh.
"Romania".

His eyes goes wide.
"You weren't kidding, wow."

I nod.
"Romania is connected to some family of mine so it only made sense, especially after my ...divorce".

He nods.
"I understand. I have had many female clients who were the ones who filed for a divorce... they often look for change. Often move to different areas so they can start over or just not have to see their ex husband again. But in your case, you and your husband didn't have children so this makes the process smoother. Joint custody would've been a big thing".

I sigh out of relief.
"Yeah... that's true".

In fact, I was pregnant but I miscarried. In a way I felt like the universe was telling me I wasn't ready, but maybe it was the universe telling me that he wasn't meant to be the father of my kids. The universe really is working in mysterious ways.

My lawyer leaves and I look at the envelope with my grandmother's letter and I remember that some guy is supposed to come and talk about the estate. I don't even know how to get in touch....

As I said that, something falls out of the envelope as I hold it upside down. I guess I was too preoccupied with moving that I forgot this.

It was a small card with writing on it:
Mr. Henrik Arias
