I stood there, nervous.
Shaking.

I couldn't believe I was actually doing this.
I was combining the Dragomir and Constantin families.
Something that would've never been heard of. Something that, for years, probably would've been considered impossible.

Yet somehow, it was happening.
I looked at myself in the mirror.
The woman staring back at me almost didn't feel like me.

I wore a satin white wedding dress that hugged my body perfectly, the fabric catching softly against the light. My hair was pulled back into a slick bun, every strand perfectly placed. My veil draped over my head, falling just enough behind me while leaving my face uncovered.

In my hands was a small bouquet of white flowers.
I tightened my fingers around the stems.
You got this.

I took a deep breath.

Another one.
Then I felt two pairs of hands gently rest against my sides.
I looked up.

My mom and dad stood beside me.
I smiled slightly when I saw them both staring at me through the mirror.
My mom was trying her hardest not to cry.

My father looked happy, but I could tell there was something else behind his eyes.
Maybe it was because, no matter how old I became, part of him would always see the little girl I used to be.

The little girl he missed so much of growing up.
He missed most of my milestones. My first steps. My first day of school. So many birthdays.
So many moments where I would've looked for him in the crowd.

But he was here now.

And somehow, that mattered more than anything.
"You are so beautiful, Brooke," my mom said softly. "I'm speechless."

I smiled and chuckled.
"Aww, Mom. Please don't cry."
She shook her head, quickly wiping underneath her eyes.
"I can't."
Her voice cracked.

"You are truly marrying someone that you love. And someone who loves you truly."
My smile softened.
"I know."

"I have to agree with your mother," my father said. His voice was deeper, calmer. "This moment is big for all of us. It's not only about combining our families. Seeing you happy is what makes us happy."

He looked at me through the mirror.
"We love you so much, Brooke."
My eyes began to burn.
I blinked quickly.

No.

I wasn't going to ruin my makeup before I even walked down the aisle.
I smiled.
"Thanks, Mom and Dad."

My mother immediately pulled me into a hug.
My father joined us.

For a moment, everything else disappeared.
There were no families.No expectations.No history.No bloodshed.No alliances.
Just me and my parents.
And I felt loved.
