I called out of work since my mother's call seemed more important but also made me realize I will have to quit the job I love. It hurts my heart that I have to but it's the only way I can move on.

As I sit in the plane seat, I look out the window. I was heading back to my home town. Where I was raised, grew up all my life until my marriage took me to Pennsylvania.

Seattle.

The rain droplets were stuck to the plane window and I watch the sky grow into a gloomy color. Good thing we finally landed and got there in one piece.

I sigh as I stand up and I grab my small suitcase from above my seat. As everyone before me starts leaving the plane, I start walking out as well. I finally get through the airport and I head outside.

The wind hit me and I close my eyes as it felt cool. I enjoy the wind and I smile. I remember that feeling and it brings the old memories.

I open my eyes and I call an Uber. I put in my mothers address and it takes me 30 minutes to get there. As I sit in the Uber, I think about what I will say to her and discuss with her. On how she was right about my husband and that I was wrong for going against her.

"First time here in Seattle?" the driver asks.

I look up from my phone and I look at him.
"Oh no... I am from here. Just visiting".

He nods.
"Well welcome back."

I smile.
"Thanks".

As the car pulls in front of my mother's house, I take a deep breath. It is refreshing to see my childhood home but shaking in my boots to see my mama.

I come out and the trunk opens. I grab my suitcase and I say thanks to the driver. He nods and he drives off. I start walking up the path to the front door.

I drag my suitcase behind me as it's on its wheels. I walk up the tiny steps and I stand in front of the door. I take a deep breath again and I bring my hand up to knock on the door.

I notice the door bell and I feel stupid. I press the door bell and I hear it ring. I wait a few moments and I ring it again. It's only 6pm, not very late.

As I look around and I feel awkward standing there with no response, the door finally opens. I see her standing there and she looks into my eyes.

I take a deep breath and I look at her.

"Hi mama..." I say.

She gives a small grin.
"Hi Brookie".

She opens the door a bit and I walk inside. I drag my suitcase of course and I look around the house as I stand.

It was still the same aura and the same feels. Like it never changed at all.

I smile a bit and I hear the door close.
"You can get settled into your room unless you are staying in a hotel... where's your husband?".
