Even if every memory from 1917 comes roaring back to you, being a former Hydra assassin means you can never get a break. Since Beverly is on a mission of redemption, she respo...
After we drove back to Zemo's house, Bucky and I explained the situation to Sam. Zemo also listened in the corner of the room. Sam was just as furious as we were but decided that we needed to do something about it. He came up with a plan all throughout the day and told us about it at dinner. As we ate our food, he told us that we needed to use the card that Shelby gave us about the super soldier serum and stop the making of it. We all agreed and went to bed.
Then, when we woke up and ate breakfast, Sam began writing out a plan on paper. I thought it was a little silly, but I could tell he was spiralling out of control. Sam has always been a control freak, and when he doesn't have it, he will try his very best to gain it back. So, I let him do whatever he needs to do, not getting in the way. We all watch him scribble down any and all details, eating our cereal.
But, my concentration is broken by the sound of my ringtone. I scrunch my eyebrows, not remembering putting on any alarms. So, I place my empty bowl in the sink and grab my phone off the kitchen island. The screen is black, with green and red buttons at the bottom of the screen and an unknown number at the top. I get nervous again and hold my phone tightly in my hands. I don't want to answer it. I'm reluctant to do so after yesterday. So, it takes me a few seconds to push the green button, but when I do, the voice I suspected to come through the speaker didn't, calming me slightly. The voice is urgent as I place the phone against my ear.
"Beverly? Are you there?" They ask.
"Yes, who is this?"
"My name is Darcy Lewis. We have been trying to contact you since yesterday." She states.
"Why? What's going on?"
"We need your help! There is a problem with Wanda." She panics.
My body tenses at her words. I haven't heard from Wanda since Bucky and I left Wakanada to live in Wanda. I've tried to reach out to her, but I've got no answer from her. I don't know anyone who could tell her to talk to me. She's been alone since I left Wakanda. All by herself. And, I feel terrible for not being there for her. She has been through so much, all by herself. She was dusted for five years after losing Vision, twice. And, before I met her, her twin brother was killed in battle. She was also locked up in The Raft and hasn't seen me in a while.
"What's wrong with her?" I ask.
"She was devastated after losing Vision and made some portal to another dimension. I don't know how she did it, but we need your help to bring her back. She has innocent people trapped so she can see Vision and her kids."
"Why would I be able to help?"
"You can get through to her. She will listen to you. Please, we need you." She pleads.
I really want to see Wanda and know that if she is keeping innocent people trapped, then it needs to stop. But, I'm stuck on what to do. I still have to join the fight with Bucky and Sam against the Flag Smashers and can't exactly up and leave to see an old friend. But, she isn't just an old friend. She is practically my younger sister. And, if she needs me there to set her straight, then I should go. Right?
"Yeah, uh. I don't know." I stutter. "Look, I have a lot going on right now. Can I get back to you?"
"Uh, sure." She doesn't seem all that certain. "Just please hurry."
I hang up the call, going into the phone app and saving the number. Sighing, I go back to sit at the table, watching Sam still writing on the paper. Bucky looks at me, worriedly. I smile at him, silencing his concern. But, I can't silence mine. I feel terrible for not leaving everything behind and helping Wanda. And helping all those people. But, what am I supposed to do? I still have to help Sam and Bucky with Karli. She is slowly gaining too much power, and if I leave now, what's going to happen when I'm gone? It could get 10 times worse. I have no idea what to do.

At dinner, I play with my food. I can't stop thinking about it all. It's been on my mind since the phone call. I still feel horrible, and even more conflicted. Sam and Bucky have clearly noticed the change in my stance, but haven't commented on it. They probably think that I'm stressing about Karli. Which I am, but just not that. But, I can feel their eyes on me at the dinner table.
"Bev, what's going on?" Bucky asks. "You've been acting strange all day."
"I'm okay."
"No, Tiny," Sam speaks up. "Are you okay? What's on your mind?"
"Okay, uh." I drop my fork. "I got a call this morning, this girl named Darcy told me Wanda needs help."
"What's wrong?" Bucky questions.
"She was crushed from losing Vision and made some portal to see him and her kids. But, she has all these people trapped in there too. She said that they need my help to get everyone out." I explain.
"Then what are you still doing here?" Zemo flays his arms around.
"Because I'm needed here too." I sigh. "I just don't know what to do."
Bucky drops his fork, turning his chair to face me, sitting next to me. He places his hand on my thigh and makes me look at him in the eyes. When I do, he has a soft expression on his face. It almost convinces me to stay right there and then. But, he runs the skin of my thigh, thinking over what to say to me.
"Baby, she needs you." He says.
"But you also need me here."
"We've got this." Sam smiles. "She's only got herself. She needs your help."
"Sam's right," Bucky agrees. "You need to help her. We will stay here and continue the fight. And, when you get back, you can help us then."
"Yeah, I just feel bad."
"Don't, B. She needs you."
I grab his hand that is still on my thigh, bring it to my lips and kiss it. He smiles at the motion and watches me stand up from the table and grab my phone. I find the number that I saved earlier and click on it. Bringing the phone up to my ear, I wait for someone to answer. When someone does, I don't hesitate to speak.
