Beverly's POV

Just a little update for you. After Bucky and I watched the tape of Steve's wedding speech, we talked about our future. We discussed family, houses, and marriage. Then, Sam came back, telling us that there was a breakfast diner not that far from the hotel. But, he also told us that people were whispering about a possible attack coming into the city. He heard people talking about the Flag Smashers. So, we decided that we would sleep in this hotel for the night, eat breakfast in the diner, and then go deeper into the city afterwards.

And that's exactly what we did. The room is small, but big enough for us to sleep, eat, and live in. Sam is pacing the room, stressing over what we do next. Bucky and I are sitting on the end of our shared bed, watching him slowly lose his mind.

"What if we confront her head-on?" I suggest.

"Are you crazy?" Sam's voice is squeaky.

"No, I'm actually thinking clearly for once," I argue back. "You're stressing me out with your pacing."

"I'm not stressing you out," He flares his arms about. "Bucky, am I stressing you out?"

"A little bit," Bucky mumbles.

"You're only saying that cause Tiny did."

"No, you're actually making the situation worse," Bucky says.

"Okay, no one asked for your opinion, Tin man." Sam groans.

"You literally just did." Bucky rolls his eyes.

"Anyway," I diffuse the ongoing argument. "If anyone has any other ideas, I'm all ears." They are both silent. "Exactly, so we are going with my plan."

"What is your plan exactly?" Sam asks. "Apart from getting us killed by a kid and her goons."

"My plan is," I glare at him. "To confront her and try to stop her. We don't need to go in there guns blazing."

"You really are crazy," Sam rolls his eyes. "She isn't looking for a peacekeeper. Karli wants to make destruction, and she sure as hell won't listen to you."

"We are not killing a kid!" I shout. "I know she's the bad guy, but I'm not letting a child get murdered because she doesn't agree with everyone else's views."

"I'm not saying kill her, I'm just saying we can't convince her to stop." Sam calms down.

"But we have to try. It's either this or she gets herself killed, and I'm not letting that happen."

Sam stands in front of me, his eyes burrowing into mine. I stand up from the bed and walk over to my bag, pulling out my phone. I go through my contacts, seeing the number I saved when Karli called me. I'm getting better at this whole technology thing. Before I click on the number, I turn to face Sam and Bucky. Sam is waiting impatiently and anxiously, biting his bottom lip. Bucky is still sitting on the end of the bed, smiling up at me, pushing me to click on the number. So, that's exactly what I do. The number rings a few times before it answers, but no one says anything.

"Karli?"

"Beverly, it's lovely to hear from you." Karli's voice oozes sarcasm.

"I don't have time for your jokes, Karli." I put the call on speaker. "We need to talk."

"Well, I will always make time for you, Beverly."

"Cut the crap. You need to stop this shit."

"Oh my god," She groans. "This is really what it's about? This is ridiculous."

"No, this is ridiculous. What you are doing. I get you don't like the world as it is, believe me, I have seen it in depth and I fucking hate it, but you can't keep killing people and destroying shit."

"Oh, but you're wrong." She laughs. "I can, and I will."

"Not if I have anything to say about it." My voice goes quieter. "If you keep going down this path, then you are going to get yourself killed."

"It's nice that you care, but I don't." She groans. "If I die, then it will be for a good cause."

"A good cause? What you are doing isn't god's work. You aren't a martyr, Karli. You are ruining people's property and killing innocence. If you want to make a point, protest, don't wreck what's left of this world."

"What's left of this world is those who should have died when they left. You brought back all those who deserved to die."

"People make mistakes, all those people did, but that doesn't mean they deserve death. And, even if they did, you aren't the one to make that decision. You are just a kid."

"A kid who will change the world for the better." She argues back.

"Get out of your own head, Karli." I groan. "When I was dusted, the right people made all those decisions to bring us back. They died for them."

"You were dusted?" She asks.

"Yes," I answer.

"Then you should have stayed gone."

Three beeps come through the speaker, and the screen shows my contacts list. We are all quiet as we look at my phone, hoping she will call back at tell us she is changing her mind. But, we are only wishing. We all know she won't do that.

I failed. I knew it was a long shot, but I was really hoping she would listen. She is just a kid, with views that are most defiantly going to get her killed. If she would have listened to me, then I wouldn't be thinking of what I am thinking about right now.

"I told you." Sam mumbles.

"Shut up, Sam." Bucky pushes his shoulder.

"No, it's okay." I look up at them both. "At least I know what we need to do now."

"What?" They both ask.

"We need to speak to her in person."
