The clock on the classroom wall was moving at an agonizing slow rate for Riley Lawrence's liking. It had barely hit noon and she was already giving up on the school day as a whole. The girl was sitting in the back of her AP history class, trying her best to write the last of the lesson on the chalk board before the bell had rung.

The girl was all sorts of annoyed due to her current situation. She was crammed in a small desk in the back of the class that caused her knees to press uncomfortably together, making them begin to ache. Her hand was also shaking from the amount of pressure she had pushed into her pencil to darken the letters on the lined piece of paper.

Her stomach was contorting itself in uncomfortable ways due to the lack of food contents that currently sat in the organ. She had accidentally skipped breakfast due to being late and was now regretting her decision. She wanted nothing more than for the class to end, so she could rush to the cafeteria to devour a much needed meal.

Riley's prayers were quickly answered when the loud sound of the bell had filled the room, signifying the end of the class. Everyone immediately rushed to pack up their binders, textbooks and pencil cases into their bag, in order to bolt out of the classroom to maximize their lunch break.

"Don't forget that your papers on the Great Depression are all due on Friday and they're worth 20% of your grade!"

Riley choose to block out the patronizing voice of her teacher, preferring to focus on packing up her belongings in a timely manner.

She wanted to start her lunch period as soon as possible since it was the one thing that would grant her freedom. It was only a sliver of time but it was enough for her to not feel like she would die of suffocation in the stuffy and hot classroom. She desperately needed that break and she was gonna bask it all in.

When she had finally made it to the cafeteria, she was quick to stand in the growing lineup, desperate to get her hands on something that was at least somewhat edible. And if she couldn't find anything good then she'd turn to her good old friend, a lathe carton of chocolate milk and the pack of crackers that she had shoved to the bottom of her bag.

It didn't take her long to find her best friend in the entire world, Taylor Rodriquez, who was quick to stall the entire lineup by making a beeline straight to the refrigerator to find their desired can of iced tea. Riley couldn't help but shake her head in amusement, knowing this was normal behaviour for her.
