Out of all of the places in the world, Riley Lawrence would much rather be at home in the comfort of her own bed but instead, she was standing in a dirty and probably rat infested junkyard. Every passing second felt more agonizing than the last and she was desperate to leave this horrid place, wanting to free herself from this soul-crushing misery.

The pungent smell in the air was off putting enough for her but the hot sun beating down on her head had caused her sense of misery to immensely amplify. She felt like she was being boiled from the inside out like a pressure cooker on the highest setting. She genuinely believed that she may pass out by the end of the day due to the uncomfortable rise of temperature but she was trying her best to hold it together for as long as possible.

The only thing that made her feel somewhat better was that the rest of the Cobra Kai students had been forced to participate in the same miserable situation as her. A dozen teenagers awkwardly stood in the middle of the rancid smelling junkyard, baking in the hot morning sun because this was apparently the best place for them to perfect their skills for the upcoming All-Valley tournament that they had all excitedly signed themselves up for.

Riley didn't understand why she had been roped into this torturous early morning practice, especially since she hadn't signed up for the tournament but she was too exhausted to even think about arguing with her father. She had decided that it was just better to not saying anything and just force herself to endure this misery as if her life depended on it, even if she didn't want to. She was a sucker after all.

"Alright, listen up!" The booming voice of Johnny Lawrence rang through the silent atmosphere, instantly catching the attention of the clearly exhausted teenagers. They all stared up at the older male, who towered over them by choosing to stand on top of an abandoned shipping container.

"You've trained hard . . . Gotten stronger, tougher, faster, you've done your best!" Johnny exclaimed before taking a large swig from the beer bottle that sat in his hand as a way to prepare himself for the day ahead. "You're ready for this tournament, am I right?"

"Yes, Sensei!" The teens all nodded in confirmation, their tones were filled with determination.

"Wrong!" Johnny quickly showcased his dismay by deciding to hurl his now crushed up beer can at the ground, practically a few meters away from hitting one of his students.
