Riley Lawrence had to admit that she was not the biggest fan of school. There was no other place in the entire world caused her more agony than school did. Between all of standardized testing, the copious amounts of homework and the constant social rejection that she was forced to endure, she couldn't help but form a negative attitude about the institution.

She couldn't help but feel like school was sucking all of the life out of her already depleted soul, leaving her with just broken shell of her previous self. She was constantly stressed and exhausted, trying to keep up with the workload that had been forcibly bestowed upon her. She felt nothing but pure agony for a place that she was forced to be practically everyday of her already miserable life.

Riley might hate school with a living passion but it did help her to develop an immense interest in the field of science and she had come to learn that she was surprisingly good at it. She was merely doing average in all of her other classes, barely scoring over a 75% but for some reason, she understood science. She was able to figure out all of the scientific questions given to her, even the most complex equations, without batting an eye.

And even her own teachers had recognized her talents in the complex subject, recommending that she sign herself up for every science class that West Valley had available to it's students. She was enrolled in the most difficult classes for chemistry, biology and physics and believed she was doomed for failure but was somehow receiving high grades, which was an unusual phenomenon for her. And this caused her love for the subject to only grow.

Despite the looming misery that hung over Riley's depleted figure, she couldn't help but perk up in excitement, upon realizing that her next class was biology. She practically like all of her science classes but she had to admit that biology was probably her favourite. She found the subject matter to be the most interesting and was also a huge fan of all forensic based shows, which has a heavy focus on the expertises surrounding biology.

Upon entering the room, the girl was quick to claim a vacant lab bench at the back of the room for herself, not wanting to sit directly in the teacher's line of sight. She dropped her backpack on the ground beside her stool, not wanting to crowd the already small table surface but still wanted to be able to easily keep an eye on her belongings if need be.

Not far behind was Miguel Diaz and Demetri Alexopoulos, who also happened to be in the same class as her. They had decided to occupy the empty lab bench beside her, wanting to be partners with each other instead. They had learned on the first day that the girl preferred to work alone, not wanting to be distracted by anything else and would get frustrated if she was. They just decided it was easier to leave her be.
