Riley Lawrence was already not the biggest fan of school but being forced to get up early on a Saturday to attend an exam preparatory class made her blood boil with annoyance. She had practically spent every waking moment of the day, furiously rubbing at her eyes to try and alleviate the remnants of exhaustion that may still linger.

To make matters even worse, she wasn't allowed to just sit in her desk and pretend to listen to the teacher's monotone voice, she actually had to do real work. Every single person was forced to complete a mock exam as practice and weren't allowed to leave the stuffy room until it was handed in. The girl was more focused on not succumbing to her spell of exhaustion as the last thing she wanted was to accidentally fall asleep and receive an lecture from the teacher.

It felt like hours before Riley had finally finished the mock exam, allowing herself to take a much needed breath of air. Her body was aching, especially her fingers because of the unintentional tight grip that she had on her pencil. She felt like she had just been tortured, despite just writing an exam. Upon getting up from her desk, she practically moved in lightening speed to drop her exam booklet onto the teacher's desk and collect her belongings that were off to the side.

Once the girl was sure that she was in the clear, she made a dash for the open doorway. She was desperate to escape, not wanting to spend another minute in that suffocating room. She was instantly greeted with the rest of her friends, who had already finished their exams and were waiting patiently in the hallway for her. They had decided to retreat outside, wanting to get away from the crowd of other students and eat their lunches in peace.

Riley had decided to take a seat on the grass, sitting directly underneath the beaming sun, enjoying the warmth that it gave her. She had been shivering the entire morning due to the air conditioning being cranked in the classroom and the sun was allowing her body temperature to finally find stability. She knew she would have to probably move into the shade in a few minutes, practically already baking to death but for now, she was enjoying this experience.

"My mom made a sandwich for you." Taylor announced happily, pulling out a plastic bag that contained a perfectly cut sandwich that was meant for her best friend to take. "She knows that you sometimes don't eat as well as you should be."

Riley accepted the homemade sandwich with ease, sending a smile in return. "Thank you." She immediately began to nibble on it as she had accidentally skipped breakfast in the morning due to running late.
