March 13-St. Charles, Missouri

"Alright, Mr. Quill. I'll be back to check on you in 20 minutes. Let me know if you need anything."

"Thank you, Roxy."

You smiled and left the room. You went into the living room and began folding the basket of clothes.

"Hey." Peter smiled as he stared at the TV.

"Hi. You like the news?"

"Not really."

"Then why are you watching it?"

"Because the picture is so clear. It's mesmerizing."

You laughed and grabbed the remote and went to the TV guide.

"See anything you know?"

"I know Star Wars."

"That's one of the newer ones."

"There's a new Star Wars?"

"There's 8 new Star Wars."

"Jesus, what else did I miss?"

"So much."

"Tell me about it."

"God, where do I start?"

"Is Michael Jackson still making music?"

"He's dead."

"David Bowie?"

"Dead."

"Prince?"

"Let's not talk about people who died, because we're gonna be here all day."

"Okay. Anything big happen?"

"You know what? I'll just get you a history book."

"Works for me."

💫

"What do you mean, he's from space?"

"He's not from space, Riley. He's from here. He just lived there for a long time."

You explained as you pulled into the driveway.

"That must've sucked."

"I'm sure it did, so, try not to be insensitive."

"I'm offended that you think I could ever be insensitive." She scoffed as she followed you to the door.

"When Aunt Kristen told you her dog died, you said, and I quote, 'that's tough'."

"It was tough!"

"Just don't be rude."

You opened the door and led Riley into the house. It was surprisingly quiet.

"Mr. Quill?"

"Out here, Roxy!"

You went in the backyard where him and Peter were fixing up the garden.

"That arthritis seems to be getting better."

"It is!"

"Well, I picked someone up from school who wants to say hi."

"Hi, Mr. Quill."

"Hey, Riley! How's school?"

"Good."

"You still driving?"

"Yeah! I'm doing really well!"

"Riley." You said.
