Soulmate Bond: Sound. No one is able to hear any sounds or voices until they meet their soulmate

It was time to start your new life in Pelican Town. You greeted Robin and Lewis using sign language. This was how everyone communicated. Using sign language and trying to talk at the same time in hopes that you'd hear your soulmates voice. You sighed over the amount of work you had to do. You caught wind rustling the leaves in the corner of your eye. You let out another sigh.

You hadn't met your soulmate yet and were getting kind of bummed about it. Your parents had told you about all kinds of wonderful sounds. The crash of waves at the ocean, birds singing. The crickets chirping at night, and even a cool summer breeze blowing through the trees.

Who knows? There will be lots of new people to meet in town, maybe one of them will be your soulmate?

So far, no luck. You had met a lot of different and new people in town, but sound was still out of your reach. It was getting late, and the sun was dipping down, staining the sky orange and purple. You decided to take the southern route home to try and get more accustomed to your new home. You looked down at your feet, trying to ignore everything around you.

"WATCH OUT!" Your head shot up. Sound. Your eyes met blue ones as a guy with gelled up blonde hair was racing towards you on a skateboard. He veered away to avoid you, but he was heading right for the river. "Hey! Careful!" You yelled out. Your eyes widened. You and never heard your own voice before, and you could see the guys eyes widen as well, right before he fell into the river.

You ran to the riverside to check on him, pulling his skateboard out of the murky water. He finally broke to the surface and spat out water. You held out your hand to him, "Are you ok!?" Worry laced your voice. The guy stared at you before taking your hand with a wide grin. "I've never been better! Falling in the river was totally worth it if it meant finding my soulmate!" Your cheeks burned as you smiled and helped him out.

You could hear the wind in the trees, the babbling river, birds chirping overhead, and your soulmates' voice. All of it was everything you ever dreamed.

You had wanted to meet your soulmate for years. You had talked to them a little bit through your bond. It started out with you just drawing mindless pictures on your arm during classes. Flowers, eyes, bunnies, whatever you wanted, really. And then the messages came. He started writing to you, just little messages that would brighten your day. You knew his name was Alex, and he liked gridball, and most everything else you knew about him. And he knew everything about you too. You did discover that you didn't go to the same school and that you weren't even in the same town. The name "Pelican Town" was vaguely familiar, though. And even when he wanted to visit you in Zuzu, your schedules never aligned, especially with having to take care of his grandparents.

Year later, you had vented to him about your soul crushing Joja job, and he was the one to urge you to look for something else. It was when you opened your grandpa's letter that Pelican Town became familiar. This letter would give you a chance at a new life and to meet your soulmate.

You wanted to surprise Alex, so all you told him was that you found a new job and would be moving, promising to tell him more once you got there.

As soon as you were in the farmhouse and unpacked, you wrote a note for Alex on your arm. "What are you up to?" "Just hanging with Dusty. You moved in?" "Yep! Gonna go meet some new people!" "Aw don't cheat on me before we even meet!" You smiled and drew a little flower for him before heading into town.
