"H-hi Justin." I say, blushing. Wait, why am I blushing?!? It's just Justin! He smiles.
"Hey Aura! You look gorgeous!" He says. I smile.
"Well! Aren't you two the cutest?? Aurora and Justin... Justin and Aurora... Aurin or Jurora... Yeah, definitely Aurin. I ship Aurin! Gah! Just get married already!" Anna squeals from behind me. My face turns crimson and I gaze to the floor.
"Sorry, this is my roommate, Anna. Anna, this is Justin. Oh, and one more thing Anna, shut up." I say. She smirks.
"Ok I get it. Still just friends.... Good luck with that." She says. With that, she shoves me out of the door, into Justin, and slams the door behind me.
"Sorry, she's a bit.... Out there." I apologize. He smirks.
"No problem. I get it." He laughs. "Oh, by the way, I ship Aurin too."
He winks. I roll my eyes. Boys...
"Come on, knuckle head." I say. He laughs and drags me to his car by the hand. I jump into the car and he presses the gas.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"You'll see." He says with a wink. I roll my eyes and gaze out of the window. We soon pull up to a McDonald's. I laugh silently.
"What are we doing here?" I ask. He smirks and drags me through the place back to the play area.
"Come on then!" He urges. I laugh as he squeezes himself into a tube. "Don't let me do this alone!"
I slip into the tube and wiggle over to the slide. I slide down with a 'wee!' He chuckles at me as I make my way back up. I venture off into a plastic car of sorts and he wriggles in next to me. He smiles and sort of stares at me. Our eyes lock and we gaze into each other's. He gently tucks a strand of hair behind my ear and leans forward. Just as I think that this is finally it, he pulls away and crawls away. My heart sinks but I shake it off.
It's fine. Totally fine. I was stupid to expect anything anyway. I wiggle down the slide again and he plays it off like it never happened. I reluctantly follow his lead. We order some food and he drags me across the street and to a park. He lays out a blanket and sets out the food. I let out a half-hearted smile as I sit down. We eat in a general peace and gaze up at the stars.
We finish our food and lie out on the grass. We stargaze for a few minutes before he turns to look at me. He smiles a small smile and leans in again. I try to resist letting my hopes get high again, but they refuse to listen as they begin to soar. He's going to kiss me. I just know it. He leans in, so close I could feel his breath. Before I could push forward, he pulls back. This time, I react.
"What's wrong?" I ask. He looks at me and pulls a fake smile.
"Nothing." He says.
"We both know that's not true." I say. A silence ensues as he stares at me guiltily.
"Aurora... Don't hate me. Please." He says.
"Why would I hate you?" I ask seriously.
"Because I can't kiss you." He says.
"Why not?" I ask gently, aching from a shattered heart.
"Because I have a girlfriend, well not a girlfriend but like, almost a girlfriend." He says. My eyes widen.
"You're cheating on another girl with me?" I ask, not wanting to believe it.
"Well," he sighs. "Yes."
"I can't believe this." I say breathlessly. Tears spill over my eyes out of anger and sorrow. "You lead me on! I can't believe you lead me on! How long has this been going on? How long have you been lying to me? To both of us? How could I have been so stupid?? I told you everything! I even told you about Gavin! But, come to see it, you're just like Gavin!" I yell.
"I am nothing like Gavin!" He barks.
"Oh yeah? You might want to think that over." I say. I snatch up my purse and begin to stomp off.
"Where are you going?" He yells after me.
"Away from you!" I yell back. He yells to me more, but I am far enough so I can't make out what he's saying. Just another cheater. Why am I attracted always to dirtbags??? Several streets of walking later, I realize that I'm lost. I pull out my phone only to find it dead. I huff and look around, trying to make out any familiar sights. I sigh when I find none.
Suddenly, I hear the sound of glass being stepped on. I whirl around, terrified. Then, the scent ensues. Beer and blood. Familiar. Much too familiar. I feel a sleeve pushed against my mouth. I struggle to get free, shouting into the man's arm. A rag is stuffed in front of my nose. I blacken out to the sound of two devious, frightening words.
"Missed me?"
