I wake up the next morning on the drying pillow. I look up at the ceiling, but can't find the motivation to get out of bed. I snuggle deeper into the covers. The tears are gone. They're all dried up. I've cried enough since I got adopted to last me a lifetime. I'm all out of tears. So, I just sit there staring at the white ceiling.
*Niall's POV*
I look around once more to see if Aurora is up yet. It is 3 in the afternoon and no one has seen her all day. Despite what she said last night, I don't think she is okay. My question is, why not?
I stand up. Enough is enough. I walk up the stairs to Aurora's room. The door had recently been repaired, so I knock on it. I hear someone moving on the bed.
"Come in!" She says in a fake cheery voice. I walk in and see her struggling to look okay.
"Hey love. Why have you been up here all day?" I ask. She shrugs.
"Um, you know. Just... Thinking." She says.
"About?" I urge. She sighs, letting her smile falter slightly.
"Just stuff."
"Aurora, you can tell me." I state. She sighs heavily.
"Its...." She glances at me once more and sighs again. "It's Gavin. H-He cheated on me. Well, I guess we weren't actually together, so I really shouldn't be upset. But he strung me along! He made me think he was single. He told me he was! I-I don't know... I deleted him. It's just, he was my only friend. He meant a lot to me and, now he's just gone." She finishes. I nod.
"You did the right thing. You'll get new friends! Maybe some your own age. You don't need him! You have us! And we'll be right here for you!" I say, trying to cheer her up. She bites her lip and nods a little. I notice that she's going to start crying. I'm no good if she starts crying. If she does, I will too. I resolve to get someone else.
"Just a moment babe" I say, walking into the hallway and almost meeting head on with Louis. "Lou, talk to your daughter." I state.
His eyes get wide and he walks into the room. I sigh.
*Aurora's POV*
Niall walks out and, after a moment, dad rushes in.
"What's wrong, love?" He asks. I spill the whole story again.
"Dad, I... He lied to me! He said it was his sister! He chose her over me! I mean, who wouldn't? She is soo much prettier than me..." I say, now with new tears streaming down my face and ruining my makeup. Dad touches my chin to get me to look up.
"Aurora, you are beautiful. You are gorgeous. You don't need makeup. You don't need to do anything to be pretty. I love you just the way you are. Don't change a thing." He says. He wipes his thumbs where my mascara has run, taking the rest of my makeup off. A small smile shows up on my face and I am swept into a hug.
*Louis' POV*
It was right then, holding her in my arms, that I finally understood that dream. It wasn't keep her away from Gavin, or anything else for that matter. It was a reminder of my promise for Aurora. I promised her I would always be there for her.
And, from now on, I intend to keep that promise.
*Harry's POV*
I walk into my bedroom and something catches my eye, a brown leather notebook. I facepalm myself. It's Aurora's! I never returned it! I roll my eyes at my memory loss. I pick it up and walk up to her room. I open the door quietly and see her and Louis hugging. I silently slip the notebook back on Aurora's dresser and leave.
