Chapter 7: Kanan's Original Padawan

(Planet: Lothal)

Y/N's P.O.V

We've now landed back on Lothal.

I sit down on the ramp of the Ghost, I then notice Kanan come up behind me.

Y/N: Look, don't say anything. I'm letting you off the hook.

Kanan: What are you talking about?

Y/N: I know you wanted to dump me on Luminara, just because she's gone now doesn't mean you're stuck with me.

Kanan: No, I don't want to dump you...

He sighs and sits next to me.

Kanan: Look, I just wanted you to have the best teacher.

Y/N: I don't care about having the best teacher, I care about having you as my teacher!

I look at him.

Y/N: I just don't get why you're training me half-way. What's going on, Kanan?

He sighs.

Kanan: Y/N, before Order 66 I had a Padawan before you.

Y/N: You did?

He nods.

Kanan: Yes. His name was Jacen. When Order 66 was initiated we were attacked by our Clones. We survived the initial attack, but eventually the Clones caught up to us.

I see tears in his eyes.

Kanan: And they killed him during their second attack.

Y/N: I'm so sorry. I... I didn't know.

Kanan: It was a long time ago, Y/N. I'm just worried that my past will repeat with you.

Y/N: I understand that, but I'm not Jacen. I'm still here. I'm here with you and I'm ready to learn.

Kanan: I know, kid.

He sighs.

Kanan: Y/N, I'm not gonna try and teach you anymore.

I look down.

Kanan: If all I do is try then I don't truly believe I can do it, so from now on I will teach you.

I look at him.

Kanan: I may fail, you may fail, but there is no try.

Y/N: I understand, Master.

He smiles at me

He then pulls out the lightsaber and hands it to me.

Kanan: Let's see if you do.

I stand up and put it on.

Kanan: Okay, are you ready?

I ingite my lightsaber.

Y/N: Yes.

Kanan: Good. Remember, focus and trust in the force.

Y/N: Yes, Master.

I sense something coming towards me.

So, I cut it in half with the blade.

I continue to do this and this lesson goes alot better than last time.

I guess Kanan is a better teacher than he thought he was.

(The next day)

It's the next day and I'm training with Kanan again.

He has me do more force training today.

We go outside of the Ghost.

Kanan: Okay, Y/N, today you're gonna meditate. Sit on the ground.
