One afternoon, Huckleberry Hound was walking down the street with four children. Earlier that morning, the famous blue hound had been at the elementary school to visit the children, giving a speech about following one's dreams and never giving up, even when things get tough. The children loved Huck, especially since he was a big TV star and they thought his show was one of the best they'd ever seen. He had signed a lot of autographs for not only the children, but for the teachers and parents as well, since they also loved seeing him on TV.

"Huckleberry, you're the greatest guy we've ever met!" a little girl named Susan cried.

"I wish you could come visit us at school every day!" a little boy named Brad said.

Huck chuckled. "Well, at least you kidlets can catch me on TV every week! And if you see me in the street, don't be shy about saying howdy!"

They soon passed the local amusement center which had a sign on the door which read, "We're closing! Last chance to visit!"

"WHAT!?" Huck cried in disbelief.

"What is it, Mr. Huckleberry?" a boy named Jeffery asked.

"Look at the sign!" Huck replied.

The children all read the sign, and gasps of shock filled the air.

"The amusement center is closing?!"

"That means we won't get to see Rowdy Rabbit and his Rockin' Riverland Band anymore!"

The children and their parents were incredibly disappointed over this, but Huck was especially upset. He loved visiting the amusement center with his friends, and if he couldn't anymore, then that was one less place for them to have fun together. His lip quivered, and tears began to fill his eyes as he stared at the sign.

"I can't believe it! Why?!? Why does this place have to close down?!" He threw back his head and began to wail. "BWAAAAAAHH!!!"

"Oh, Mr. Huckleberry!" a girl named Linda said. "Please don't cry!" She walked up to him and gave him a hug.

Huck continued to cry as he hugged her back. "Thanks, Linda," he sobbed. "But it's just not gonna be the same without the amusement center!"

Brad's father walked up to Huck and patted him on the shoulder. "Hey, maybe it doesn't have to close down. Maybe there's something you can do to help."

"Whatever it is, I'll do it!" Huck bawled. "I really don't want this place to close down!! WAAAAAAHH!!"

Susan's mother nodded. "You're a local celebrity. I think you have some way to help change things. People believe in you!"

As he heard those words, Huck stopped crying and looked up at the children and their parents. "Y-you really mean that?" he asked, brushing his tears away.

"Of course!"" Jeffrey smiled. "You're Huckleberry Hound! You can do anything!"

"You're the greatest TV star ever!" Brad said.

"And you're our friend too!" Linda cried happily.

"You can do it!" Susan shouted.

Huck's heart began to feel warm and fuzzy as he looked back at the children all smiling at him. They really did believe in him...and they even called him their friend! His sad expression began to disappear and he managed to smile back.

"You know what? You're right, kidlets. Never let it be said that ol' Huck ever let y'all down! I'll come up with a plan to save the amusement center! But... how?"

Later that day after the children were dropped off at their houses, Huck met up with the gang at the malt shop, where they usually met up.

"So we need a clever plan to help raise money to stop the amusement center from closin' down," the hound explained as he took a sip of his chocolate milkshake.
