{4} Dang it

I sit at the table, drawing.
After yesterday's incident, I've decided to stay mostly to myself.

I swing my legs under my chair, the sounds of kids screams booming in my ears. I lower my head and rest it on the table.

What to do... I thought.

A creak of the Daycare door made me raise my head. A security guard was standing at the entrance, talking to a fidgety Sun.

I swiftly decide to eavesdrop on their conversation. I made my way through a play structure and carefully adjust my angle to get a good view and a good hearing.

"Officer Vanessa! I can assure you that there are no extra kids in the Daycare!" Sun's voice was high pitched and squeaky.
"Sun, I've checked the security cameras and there IS a kid who doesn't have a guest reservation." Vanessa glared, "Now where are they?"
"I don't know! We don't have any extras!" Sun sobbed.
I felt bad for Sun, but I couldn't just come out from my hiding spot right then. I could get caught!
"Fine then." Vanessa walked over to the security desk and stared at the frightened Sun, "If you won't talk, maybe Moon will."
"Officer Vanessa! It's not naptime yet!" Sun argued.
"Too bad." She flicked the light switch and all the lights turn off.
Many gasps can be heard throughout the Daycare. I could hear some kids crying as they hit themselves due to the darkness.
I just keep my focus on the conversation.
"Officer Vanessa," Moon hissed, his red glowing eyes brightening with fury, "You have no right to turn off the lights whenever you please."
"Just tell me if there is an extra child," She growled, "Then, I'll take them off your hands and be on my way."
"We have no extra children in the Daycare! Did you not listen to my brother?" He demanded, shoving his face really close to hers.
She pushed him away, "You two are lying scumbags. I'll talk to parts and service about your lying program."
She then grabbed a flashlight and walked around the Daycare, in search of that child. That child being probably me.

Many of the kids have already adjusted their eyes to the darkness and were now running to Moon for comfort.
"It's okay my Starlights. The lights will be off for a while but it's alright." He whispered softly as more children ran towards him. I was pretty sure that was the entire Daycare over there.
"Hah! I knew it!" A hand grabs me by the shirt. I twist my head to get a small glimpse of a furious Vanessa.
"MOON!" She howled, stomping towards the group. All the kids shuffle to hide behind Moon.

Vanessa shoves me to the ground and I land with a thud.
"Care to explain?" She folded her arms.
"I have nothing to explain. They are another child in this Daycare that I attend to." Moon glared.
"You didn't seem to pay much attention to finding them in this darkness." Vanessa spat.
"You were the one who turned off the lights without preparing the children," Moon said simply, "I have over twenty kids in this Daycare and almost all of them were over here crying."
"So you'd just leave the rest in the darkness?"
"You did not allow me to finish-" Moon was rudely interrupted with the lights flickering back on.
I glance up at the terrified Sun. I can tell he's trying not to look at you, not wanting to give out any suspicion.
"I'll be taking them off your hands now. Argue and you'll be scrapped for lying to an officer." Vanessa barked, grabbing me by the wrist and pulling me out of the Daycare.
I look over my shoulder and waved a sad goodbye to Sun.

So much for safety and comfort.

~~~
"You are going to stay in the lost and found until I've found your parents. Understood?" Vanessa glared.
I sigh, not having much of a choice.
"Yes."
"Good, I'll be back with snacks or whatever." She grumbled, locking the door behind her.
She really doesn't know how to take care of children, does she?
I glance around the room. It was exactly how I expected it to look like. Toys and jackets everywhere. Some shoes and bags. Nothing special.
Well, correction, there was one thing special.
"What's this?" I think out loud, approaching a small wind-up present. I twist the handle and it started to play music. At least this would keep me intertaining.
And then it popped.
It startled the heck out of me but it opened up and revealed a screwdriver.
"Oookay.." I shrugged, picking it up. Could be useful I suppose.
~~~
I don't know what time it is. All I know is that Vanessa hasn't come back and I'm starting to get really hungry.
I started looking around the room for any forgotten snacks, which was highly unlikely.

While rummaging through some boxes though, I found a small vent, just big enough for a kid like me to fit through.
I punched the air in victory.

That was until I found out the vent with bolted shut.
"NO!" I kicked a box, "That was my only way out!"
And then it hit me. No literally, it hit me.
The box collided with the screwdriver, which I placed on the edge of the security desk, and flung it towards my face.
I raised my hands in defense and the screwdriver hit my wrist directly.
"Ouch!" I cried, grabbing my hand.
I look at the screwdriver and scowled. Releasing my hand, I grab the screwdriver and bolt for the vent.
"No time for crying," I winced as I began unscrewing one of the bolts, "I just need to get out of here."
It took over 3 minutes for my tiny hands to finally open the vent.

With a mighty push, it popped open.
"Freedom!" I laughed, crawling through. It took 10 seconds for me to exit the vent and reach the main floor of the Pizzaplex. Everywhere I looked, there were colorful lights. Stores filled the walls along with some trash bins in the shape of the band. In the middle of all of it, was a water fountain. A golden freddy stood ontop of this foutain, singing to its hearts content.

I stood there in awe for a few minutes but shook myself out of it.

I was in the open. I needed to hide.
