Chapter 5~ cheer practise.

A week had slowly passed since Max and Ziggy's conversation and they hadn't spoken since. Ziggy had yet to return to school but it was now Friday
which meant cheerleading practice, the good thing was, she definitely wouldn't be seeing Max.

Robin and Steve were at work from three so
Ziggy decided to go there before practise to get a ride from Steve- plus she needed a movie to watch after so she could spend her Friday night all alone in her room whilst everyone else in her grade went to parties and hung out with friends.

She walked through the door of family videos prompting Steve and Robin's heads to pop up at the sound of the bell, "hey." They said in unison, "hi! Is stand by me finally in?" Ziggy asked with a smile on her face- movies and skating were about the only things she found joy in anymore- Steve grinned and pulled it out from the counter, "yep, saved it for you."

"Thank you!" She grabbed it and smiled, "I heard Tom cruise has a new movie coming out soon." He went on, "what's it called?" She asked, Steve stood with his hand on his hip, visibly thinking hard about it, which amused the two girls,
"I don't know- something like uh gun, top- top gun?" He finally said, "wow Steve we are so lucky you work here." Robin laughed, "yeah, yeah, whatever." He rolled his eyes before walking over to a girl that just came into the store.

Robin suddenly turned to Ziggy and just stared at her weirdly, "what do you want?" Ziggy let out a laugh, "have you by any chance spoken to Max Mayfield at all?" Robin asked to her confusion, how would she even know? "not anymore- why?" She narrowed her eyes sceptically.

"Just- obviously with all the party stuff you went through and the fact that she's practically in your place now and you heard Nancy and I talking about her, you know, and I didn't even know you guys talked in the first place, like is it recent? I thought you wouldn't get along since she is in the party and-" Robin said at a hundred miles per hour, "Robin!" Ziggy cut her rambling off, "Yeah?" She took a deep breathe, "calm down."
"Right, sorry. It's just- recently I keep seeing her looking at you in school." She explained making Ziggy's eyes widen, "what?! She does?" She tried to hide her smile, "yeah, I think she could be a really good friend for you since you both lost some-"

"I don't see it going in that direction." She cut her off again, "why not?" Robin pressed on,
"because she's fucking rude." Ziggy said, it felt like that's all she could say about her at the moment, "well Ziggy- you're not exactly the most polite person to people." Robin smirked, "I know." She replied, it wasn't exactly a shocker to hear, she wasn't always like this though, "but that's not the only reason." She folded her arms, "then what else?"

"You're all friends with her, she doesn't need anymore friends and I don't want any new ones."

"What are you guys talking about?" Steve walked back over and leaned on the counter, "how Max can't stop staring at Ziggy." Robin laughed, "oh- yeah I've noticed that." Steve grinned, earning a glare from Ziggy, "it's because she's annoyed at me."

"Why?" Steve asked, Ziggy quickly looked at her watch then back at him, "time for cheerleading practise, you have to drive me Steve." Ziggy said, changing the subject, "fine, but this conversation isn't over." He grabbed his keys and opened the door for her, "bye Zig." Robin sarcastically waved.

They got into the car and drove out the parking lot. Steve looked over and saw Ziggy staring out the window, but in the reflection he could see the look on her face, the one she had since last summer- she never smiled anymore- He put his hand out to turn the radio on when Ziggy slapped his hand away, "do not play Ziggy Stardust for the love of god." She knew him so well, "fine, what do you want me to play?"
