12. 𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙧.

Chapter 12~ Telling her.

"You're in love with Ziggy?" Robin questioned with widened eyes, "yeah." Max whispered, not meeting any of their eyes, "I knew it!"

"What?!" She looked up at them all, "yeah it was pretty obvious." Steve chimed in, "oh my god- that's why she was acting wei-" Nancy stopped herself when she realised they were all looking at her, "what are you talking about?" Max asked, "so the Monday after her party, she came up to me and was acting really weird, saying stuff like she was confused and things are different, she got like really flustered, got angry then walked away." She explained. 

"I think...we almost kissed." Max let out with a heavy breath, "what?!" Steve, Nancy and Robin all said in unison, "when?" Steve asked, "the other day...before I came here, we had an argument about it because I kissed Lucas, she said I was in 'denial', so...god I was such an asshole about it and the worst part is- I'm pretty sure she was trying to tell me that she liked me but stopped herself."

"Wait why did you kiss Lucas if you're in love with Zig?" Nancy asked, "because she was right...I am in denial."

"Holy shit this is unexpected." Steve said, "what? Max is extremely gay, I knew from the minute I met her." Robin stated, "seriously? You knew before me?" Max rolled her eyes, "no, I mean about Ziggy and Max, it was pretty obvious Max is gay."

"Okay! I'm still in the room."

"Sorry." They said in unison, "I always had a feeling." Robin smirked, "I know you guys argue but there's something special there...and I think you need to talk."

"Well I don't think she'll feel the same anymore after we tell her-" Max's eyes started filling with tears again, "hey." Nancy whispered, "it will be okay." She tried to reassure but Max knew she was just saying that.

"Hey." They all looked up as Dustin walked down  the stairs with Lucas following behind, "got him back."

"Lucas." Max quickly wiped her tears and stood up, "we can talk another time...for now we just need to figure out how to tell Ziggy."

"And how to actually get her over here, she's mad at me and Robin." Max stated, "I'll tell her I need her, she'll definitely come over." Nancy replied, "okay we get it Nance, she doesn't hate you."

"Like you said, she will after we tell her. I'm gonna go upstairs and call her." Nancy took a deep breath along with everyone else before walking up the basement stairs.

"I'm so fucking scared." Dustin practically ripped at his hair as he paced around, "like who's going to start?"

"I will." Robin stood up, "are you sure you're the best person for that job?" Steve questioned, "you tend to ramble."

"You're right." She pursed her lips, "I'll do it." Max breathed out, "I'm the one she's been talking to about this for weeks."

"Are you sure?" Nancy placed her arm around Max, "yeah." She whispered.

"Actually- um is it okay if Lucas and I start it...I just think that since it started with the whole El thing, she deserves to know why we acted that way the night Will went missing." Dustin asked, looking for everyone's approval, "that does make more sense." Max nodded.

"Hello? Nancy?" Ziggy's voice suddenly called from upstairs, they all jumped and looked at each other with widened eyes knowing this was it. She could hate them for the rest of their lives.

"Down here Zig." Nancy couldn't hide the shakiness in her voice, "what are you doing in here-" the smile came straight off Ziggy's face as she saw them all stood up, staring at her. "What the hell is this? Nance?" She looked to the older girl, "Ziggy I'm sorry."
