Chapter 14~ I love you.
Max suddenly sat up in bed, struggling to catch her breath as she held her chest that was rapidly going up and down. Tears filled her eyes that blocked her vision but she could make out a figure that was now sitting up next to her. "Max! Hey- hey it's okay, you're okay." Ziggy rubbed her back whilst holding her arm, "calm your breathing down. Take a slow breath in." She did it along with her, "and out." Max's breath was already slowing down, "and again." They repeated it, "good." Ziggy said softly.
"I'm sorry." Max let out and buried herself into Ziggy's arms, her breath was now steady but she was still crying, "don't apologise Max...Do you normally have nightmares?" She asked whilst stroking her hair, "when Billy first died I did and they stopped for a while but now...they've started again."
"I'm so sorry. Is there anything that helps ease them?"
"No- I don't think so...I guess I'll just have to deal with it."
"You shouldn't have to deal with it Max." She protested, "we need to get ready for school." Max changed the subject and got up, "wait Max-" she gently grabbed her arm causing her to turn back around, "I care about you...I'm not going to sit here with you and force you to talk about it but you can whenever you want. I'm here."
"Thank you." Max whispered before leaning down and pressing a kiss on Ziggy's lips.

Max and Ziggy arrived at school and got off the bus along with everyone else, unfortunately they picked the worst day to go back. Friday. Normally Fridays were okay but there was a big pep rally today, students were piling into the gymnasium as teachers stood outside telling everyone where to go, "what are you listening to?" Ziggy asked Max who had her walkman on, "Kate Bush." She smiled, "what about you?"
"Tears for fears." She smiled as they carried on walking through the parking lot, "hey Zig?" Max turned to her, "yeah?"
"Why haven't you said it since?" She asked, confusing her, "said what since?"
"That you love me."
"Oh, uh-"
"Max, Ziggy." A muffled voice said from behind, cutting Ziggy off, "girls." They both looked at each other and turned around to see Ms. Kelley with a huge smile on her face, "I didn't see you two girls yesterday."
"Yeah- um we haven't been in this week." Max replied, "well I would really loved to see you both today at lunch, different times of course."
"Yeah...sure." Ziggy pursed her lips and Max just nodded before they both carried on walking, "oh and girls." Ms. Kelley called back, "it's nice to see you two getting along."
"That was super awkward." Max whispered as they finally got away from her, "great, we're stuck seeing her now."
The girls walked into the hallway and luckily it wasn't busy at all, people were mainly preparing for the pep rally in the gymnasium. It was not Max and Ziggy's thing at all, especially now that Ziggy wasn't on the cheer squad anymore.
"I'm just gonna go to the bathroom okay? I'll see you at lunch, outside Ms. Kelley's office." Ziggy grinned, "see you later." Max smiled and walked to her locker as Ziggy went into the bathroom.
She went straight to the mirrors and just stared at herself for a few moments until she heard the sounds of someone throwing up, she slowly walked over to the stall where the sound was coming from, "hey, is everything okay in there?" She asked, "yeah- yes I'm fine, just...go away please."
"Chrissy?"
"Please just go away." She persisted, I mean, Ziggy wasn't exactly shocked she was being like that, not a lot of people want to be walked in on throwing up, "okay." She sighed before hesitantly leaving.
