Diana's morning couldn't go any better. She was living her best life in the city everyone dreams of going.
Monte Carlo. A city that in her teenage mind used to be a synonym of richness and wealth.

In fact, she did want to be rich since she was a little girl. Her family wasn't poor, but they were living from hand to mouth, and money was something that was leaving fast despite how slow it had arrived. She wasn't willing to live like that forever even though she was grateful to her parents. She knew that they were doing the best for her and her little brother, Remy.

Remy was three years younger than her, and after some years of him getting on her nerves, they had actually formed a strong bond. They support and help each other when they need it. The daily messages and calls were something normal for them. Diana couldn't start her day without hearing her little brothers voice, who isn't so little anymore. Remy ,who is twenty-one at the moment , is studying engineering in the same university Diana went.

Diana always thought of education as the way to achieve what she always dreamed of. Money and status. And if pursuing a career as a prosecutor doesn't combine both, then what does? Being a workaholic and a bookworm at once was the perfect combination for getting into law school via a scholarship program. She managed to stay focused, and now she has achieved everything she ever wanted. She was very proud of her, and so was her family. She was finally able to support them financially while living on her own. She was the one who paid part of her brother's tuition in order to become a formula 1 engineer. As a British family, formula 1 was something traditional for them. In fact, Diana used to love the sport when she was a child, especially Sebastian Vettel, who was her favorite driver. But when she got into law school, all the things of that kind froze for her. The last champion she remembers was Lewis Hamilton in 2019. Her obsession to be successful resulted in the loss of some friends and her social life in general.

The only friends that had been by her side since middle school were her best friends. Lia and Juliette. They've been a trio since they can remember themselves.

Lia was the friend who would manage to cheer you up even if something really bad had happened. She was always full of positive energy and optimism. Her smile was never fading, and she was the social bird of the group.

Juliette, on the other hand, was the type of girl who stood up for herself and her loved ones despite being too "girly," as people would often say. Under all that makeup and the pink clothes, Juliette was a strong and independent woman who would destroy you if you had messed with one of us.

And there was Diana, an introvert who had developed some social skills because of her friends. To be brutally honest, she was an extrovert only when she was surrounded by people she felt comfortable with. Despite being socially awkward when it came to parties or dinners with people she didn't know, she managed to get along with a few people, and she was fine with it. She did have the mentality that less is more, so that didn't affect her much. Apart from that, she was a high achiever and very hard on herself. She had been using her mind and logic since forever, and she wasn't the one who would let her emotions control her.

That didn't really mean that she hadn't been in a relationship before. Actually, her first, high-school, boyfriend managed to put up with her for three years till the end of the first year of law school. It's been four years since her break up, and despite the fact that many men tried to approach her, she rejected every single one of them. Not because she was hurt from her previous relationship but because she knew she wasn't able to build a relationship with someone while building her future. And when she had to choose, she picked her career. She couldn't say that she regretted it.

Everything that mattered to her now was the fact that she was able to spend some days in Monte Carlo with her best friends. When they booked the airplane tickets, they decided not to set a date for their return. After all, they didn't know how long they would stay, so they avoided the issue of changing the dated over and over again.

When they arrived, they were left mesmerized. Monaco was a country full of life and fun. The busy streets of Monte Carlo were everything they could ask for. Their hotel room had an amazing view of the city, and everything reminded them of those 00s movies.

Then the fun began. They rented a car and started driving around the whole country. It wasn't that big anyway. The exploration took them about two days, but they weren't willing to leave any time soon. The spring break was the perfect time of the year to visit this place, and they knew that.

The fancy restaurants and the French styled bakeries were the sweet spot of them. Lia adored the fresh cooked croissants, and Juliette would always eat a slice of apple pie, or even two, when it was breakfast time.

But this morning was going to be different than any other. So different that even Diana herself would not believe it's real.
