°Don't go there 'cause you'll never return
I know you think of me when you think of her
But then it doesn't make sense when you're trying to be hard
To do the right thing but without recompense
And then you did something wrong, and you said it was great
And now you don't know how you could ever complain
Because you're all confused 'cause you want me to
But then you want me to do it the same as you°Diana's eyes widened when she heard his words. For some reason, she was convinced that he wasn't going to say it back. She realized that her obsession to be perfect in academic terms made her more insecure than ever. It made her feel she had no right to be loved by another man. But here she was.
She knew that saying something was definitely going to make it awkward, so she just hugged him tightly while staying silent. Minutes later, she was asleep. Charles knew that she would probably freeze since she was still naked. He lifted her up and placed her on the bed under the sheets. He wore his home-wear and sat on the couch to watch some TV. He was a bit stressed for tomorrow's race, but that was not the reason behind staying up that late. Suddenly, his phone buzzed. It was a text from Carlos.
"Having a good time? ;)" He had written.
"Sorry for the noise, mate :')" Charles replied.
"No worries. Have fun! At least we now know that racing is definitely not the only thing that you are talented in ;)" Carlos said.
Charles replied with three laughing faces and turned off his phone.
Why was he staying up late? It wasn't the race. Not entirely, at least. He was very happy with Diana. She is, in fact, everything he could have asked for. Supportive, caring, cute, pretty. Charles' heart melts every time he sees her. He has no idea how their relationship had escalated so much in just a few days. Was this what people call "love at first sight"?
He meant the words he said. He actually loved her silliness. He was actually willing to make her smile at any cost. Most importantly, he really loved this woman.Charles had that constant need to be around her. To be with her all the time. Was he anxious about the getting pregnant part? No, that was not it. He didn't lie when he said that he is a family guy. He has always been very close to his family. For some reason, he knew that he wanted this woman to be the mother of his children. It sounded a bit silly in his head, but it was true.
Maybe he was afraid of the families meeting each other. He was sure that his family was going to love Diana. How could they not? He had no idea about Diana's family, though. From what Diana had told him earlier, he realized that her mother was a bit strict while her father was normal. He couldn't blame them for worrying about their child. He was determined to prove to them that he means no harm to her.
Then it clicked. Charles realized why he was feeling weird. He was going to lose her. Not forever, of course, but for a while. In a couple of days, les than four to be exact, she would have to leave and go back to London. He really didn't want her to leave. He had to spend a lot of time with her now, that he was able to do so.
But even so, when was he going to see her again? He opened the race calendar on his phone. This week was Imola, and the next one was Monaco. She wouldn't make it to his home race. The next one is Spain. He wouldn't make it there either. Then it's a one week break and moving onto Canada. That was not it either. So was Austria.
His eyes sparkled when he saw Silverstone on the calendar. That was it. It is in the United Kingdom so she doesn't have to travel a lot. He opened his laptop and found the route from London to the circuit. It was one hour and a half with a car. It wasn't too bad but not too good, as well.
He walked to the bedroom where he found her sleeping peacfully. He laid next to her and wrapped his arms around her still naked body. Oh, how he loved this woman. Diana felt his presence and opened her eyes.
"Hey there," He said.
"Hey," she said and smiled. She closed her eyes and they both fell asleep.
The next day, Diana woke up first. The race was at 16:00 but they had to be there many hours in advance. Actually, Charles had to shoot some promo videos and a challenge for Ferrari's YouTube channel. It was already eight in the morning. After taking a shower and doing some skin care, she got dressed and she the hotel room in order to go to the dining hall of the hotel. There, she took two plates and placed a whole bunch of stuff for both of them. She then came back to the room where she found him sleeping.
She stared at him and decided to wake him up. She moved closer and kissed his forehead.
"Charles, it's time to wake up. I've brought you some breakfast too." She said.
He got up and kissed her neck.
"Merci Diana," He said.
They ate and got ready to leave.
"Are you nervous?" She asked him while he was driving.
"Who wouldnt". He replied.
"Well, maybe music can help," Diana replied and turned the radio on.
"Oh, that's my favorite song there!" Charles said.
"Adults are talking, of course. It's so calming." She agreed, and they started singing and viking to the song.
Some time passed and they had arrived. They entered the paddock, which was more full than ever.
"You might see famous people today. It's an Italian grand prix, and many ferrari fans are going to be here. Oh, that's Silvester Stalone over there. Huge ferrari fan." Charles said and left Diana speachless.
The famous actor approached them since he noticed Charles.
"Hello, Mr. pole-man!" He said and shook his hand. "Nice to meet you, Diana. You are the paddock's new star. Everyone is talking about you."
"Nice to meet you too, mister Stalone. I hope that they are discussing me on good terms." Diana said and giggled.
"How could they do otherwise? They have nothing but well wishes for you!"
"That's good to hear!" She replied.
"Well, we expect a good result today, Charles. Make us proud. You got this." He said and left, and they started walking towards the Ferrari building.
