°He's close to my mother, talks business with my father°

A cheerful lady opened the door, seconds later.

"Bonsoir maman!" Charles said and kissed her cheeks, just like Europeans do.

"Mon petit Chacha," She said and hugged him. "You must be Diana!" Charles' mother said as soon as she saw her next to Charles.

"It's very nice to meet you, Miss Leclerc!" Diana said and smiled dearly.

"Oh, call me Pascale dear. Come inside the door isn't the right place to chat!" She said, and all of them walked in the house.

Charles led Diana to the couch, and they both sat while Pascale brought them some cookies.

"I'm so happy now that you are here, Diana. I really wanted to meet you. Charles has told me so many great things about you, and even though I trust him and his taste, I was very curious to get to know you!"

"I hope I'll come up to your expectations." Diana said and smiled.

Charles held her hand while hugging her closely. He knew that she really wanted his mother to like her, and that was something that was making her nervous.

"Oh, don't worry about that, dear! Now tell me some things about yourself."

"Well, I work as a prosecutor in London." She said and saw Charles biting a cookie. He was so relaxed.

"Oh, my English is a bit rusty! What does 'prosecutor' mean?" She asked.

"Elle est procureure, maman," Charles explained.

"Oh, that's very interesting! You must have been studying a lot."

"I've been studying practically my whole life," Diana said and giggled.

Just then, the bell rang.

"Those must be your parents." Pascale said and opened the door. She wasn't wrong.

"Mrs Leclerc?" A woman asked, making Diana stand up immediately. Charles did so, too, following her example.

"You must be Diana's parents." Charles' mother said and smiled.

"You can call me George," her father said and shook her hand.

"And I am Daisy." Her mother said and did the same.

"You can call me Pascale. Please come inside." She said and led them to the couch.

Charles and Diana walked towards them.

"There she is! How are you, Diana?" Her father asked and hugged her.

"I'm fine, dad, I've missed you."

"We have definitely missed you too. It's been a month since we last saw you." Her mother started complaining.

Diana took a deep breath and decided to let that slide.

"Aren't you going to introduce us, Diana?" He mother kept being judgemental.

"Yes, of course! Well, mother, dad , this is Charles, my boyfriend." She said the last word in a reluctant way.
