°How easy it is to talk to you°
"Charlie, the food is ready," Diana said and kissed his cheek.
Charles opened his eyes and smiled when he saw her.
"God, I really needed that nap," He said.
"Told you so! Now get up. I've made pasta."
"My favorite!" He says and stands up.
When they finished their food, Charles had to get dressed and leave.
"The food was delicious, ma chérie" he commented while he was changing his t-shirt. He chose a ferrari one this time.
"I'm glad that you liked it," she replied.
"I don't want you to leave you alone," He complained.
"Charles, it's your work. When you come back I'll be right here so you can tell me everything, okay?"
Charles walked towards her and hugged her tightly. He knew that she was everything he could ask for. He was feeling so lucky to meet her.
He left eventually, and Diana had a couple of free hours, so she decided to stay in and read a book. After two hours she had finished it but Charles hadn't returned. She did not expect him to be quick with that. That's why she opened her laptop and checked her emails. She wanted to make sure that nothing had happened at her work.
Though something had happened. In fact that they had informed her about a case that she was going to examine. A girl was murdered. The investigation wasn't done yet. According to the email, they would have more evidence by the time she comes back.
Diana took a deep breath and turned off her laptop. She loved this job, but she was sometimes disappointed in people. She had only realized how messed up this world was when she started her career as a prosecutor.
Her phone suddenly rang. It was an incoming video call from her best friends, so she answered.
"Hey girls!"
"Look who's there! Diana, the traveler!" Juliette said, and all of them laughed.
"How are you, Diana?" Lia asked.
"I'm perfectly fine! Charles is not here right now, though. He is having a meeting with the team, but he will be back soon, " she said and then proceeded to explain their whole plan for those days.
She then mentioned the necklace situation, and both of her friends almost fainted when they heard about it.
"Diana, he is the one," Lia said.
"I must admit that I was a bit suspicious about him some days ago, but he is so boyfriend material," Juliette commented.
"Well, that's why we are official now," she said, and her friends choked.
"You what?" They said at the same time.
After the typical explanation, both Juliette and Lia were too sunned to speak.
"We are so happy for you, Diana!" Lia managed to say.
"Thankd, girls. Now tell me about you guys."
"We are leaving tomorrow from Monaco. We have to get back to London someday." Juliette answered.
"I was thinking about that too, mainly because of an email from work about a new case. I don't have time to waste, to be honest." Diana complained.
"Diana, don't be so hard on yourself. You are the best when it comes to your work, and you deserve an actual break." Lia said.
"Lia is right! And remember that you can work from where you are anytime."
"I know, but it's not the same. Anyway I'll enjoy this as much as I can. Tomorrow, there is this press conference thing, and that's where Charles is going to announce our relationship since I'll be in the audience. It think it's going to be streamed."
"We are definitely going to see that!" Lia said.
After a while of them chatting and laughing, they ended the call since it was already 9 pm.
Diana had started worrying about Charles, but just then, he entered the apartment. It was clear that he was very tired. Diana walked towards him and kissed him.
"How did it went Charlie?"
"I love this team so much, but it's exhausting." He said and sat on the sofa. "I feel like they are uncapable to provide me and carlos the competitive car that we need. I know I've made mistakes, too, but even when I don't, the car just can't keep up with the red-bulls. And now the Mercedes and the Astons are so strong and fast too. It's just something that I can not control."
"Well, if you can't control that, then you shouldn't be stressed about fixing it. Your job is to drive and take the best out of what you have. If the team is disappointing, then it's their problem. Everyone knows that. And just because some thing have gone bad lately doesn't mean your career has ended. I'm sure they all know your talent and your worth." She said when she sat next to him.
Charles looked her deep in the eyes and smiled.
"I feel so lucky right now, Diana. I can't believe that you are in my life." He finally said, and Diana hugged him.
They turned on the TV and watched a movie while cuddling.
"I told my brother about us. He was gonna see it on the news anyway, but it's better to find out because of me, " Diana said.
"You did the right thing. Now tell me, how was your day?"
"A bit boring. I finished à book while you were at work and called my friends and brother. Oh, a new case was sent to me. It's the murder of a girl. But I don't have enough evidence now, so I can't start working."
"I look up to the people who are prosecutors. It's a very important job, and I could never pursue a career in this field. I'm very proud of you, Diana."
Diana smiled and blushed. She loved the "I'm proud of you" compliments. She was able to understand that she was useful in some way. And people were actually seeing that.
She hugged him tightly without saying a thing. She was pretty tired, so she fell asleep after a while.
"Diana? Are you asleep?" Charles asked, but the answer was obvious.
He lifted her up, bridal styled, and headed to the bedroom. He placed her gently under to covers and kissed her forehead. He then laid next to her and wrapped his arm around her waist. He was sleeping as well a couple of minutes later.
