Chapter Six:

                “Charlotte!”

I heard my name being amplified from the downstairs, the stairs creaking at every step taken, and my door slamming open to see Holly’s face inexplicably happy.

“Yeah?” I say, my eye brows arched up, book now on the floor, and Holly leaning on my doorjamb. “My goodness do we have to talk!” She tells me, inching over to my bed and flopping down on it.

I nod, telling her to start talking, but apparently that’s not what I have to do, due to the fact that she began talking ever since she came in.  “Okay so right after I ran off, oh sorry about that by the way.” I roll my hand, telling her to go on. “Anyway! I ran away and guess who showed up?” She asked. Andrew. I thought, already knowing the answer. “Andrew!” She shrieks. “He just came up from behind me, spun me ‘round, and gripped both of my shoulders. Then guess what!” She shouted, almost blowing my ear drums. He kissed you? Again, another thought. “He kissed me!!!” She shrieks and screams out, flopping down on my bed after kneeling on her knees. Recoiling and closing one of my eyes as she yells out in happiness.

“How’d he kiss you?” I asked her, knowing that I was going to regret my asking later, but still a bit curious on how well Andrew kisses. “Well so he gripped both of my arms in his hands, right.” I nodded. “He started talking about how dumb I was for running out on ya’ll, and knowing me I never apologizing.” I defiantly shook my head at this, and she just rolled her eyes and went on. “So I was like ‘I’m not a little girl anymore Andrew.’ So he like shook his head and told me he was ‘aware’ of that. Then I go off saying that he’s such an idiot for not knowing all this time.” Knowing all this time, she means that she liked him all this time. “So to shut me up, he reached his hands around my back, finding the small of it.” She gestured to her back. “Lifting me off my feet and into his arms and then kissed me.”

“Wow.” I said and watched her squeal. “I know right!” She squealed louder and started to jump up and down on the floor, leaving me alone on the bed. She stopped suddenly, “I saw you last night.” My expression went blank, thinking about Tanner and how he found me, and how Andrew kissed me on the cheek. I mean we are a very affectionate group towards each other, but if she did see him kiss me, then why the heck would she be here right now talking about her and Andrew? “What part?” I asked my stomach beginning to hurt. Her mouth went together and she clutched her stomach. “Oh like you don’t remember. Maybe the part where you where dancing with that guy.” She shrieks enough for the both of us, these days. “Which guy?” I ask, unnoticing how bad that sounded towards me. Her mouth hung open and I was just wondering which guy she was talking about. “The one in the maroon shirt!” She shouts and pulls me off the bed by my hands. Tanner it had to be. He was the only one I danced with who had a maroon shirt on. “Oh you mean Tanner?” I ask clarifying. “I don’t know his name! All I know is that he had brown hair and blue eyes.” Yep, defiantly Tanner. I thought to myself

“What happened to you anyway?” she asked me. Thinking of a reasonable response to this, without lying to her about it. “Oh I got tired, got a ride home from Tanner.” I say making it sound as if I didn’t care. But deep down I was screaming inside, still replaying the scene in the car over and over. From the point where he complements my house to the time I see his tail lights disappear. I even waked up this morning to find a piece of paper that had Tanner’s number scribbled down on it, I was so happy that I put him in my contacts.

“Ohoo. Got a ride home from Tanner huh?” she repeated in a tone that didn’t sound like hers at all. “I might just have to meet him.” I roll my eyes, “Ha! Yeah and what exactly are you going to say?” I ask her.
