Chapter Nineteen:

I had my eyes set on him, zoning on his navy blue tee that he matched with a pair of blue loose jeans that dragged on the ground past his black sneakers. He had her with him all day long, enabling me to talk to him, powerless in telling him about Andrew coming to talk to me.

“Tanner!” I screamed, attempting (yet again) to get his attention. He turned this time at his name being called and once he caught sight of me, he hurriedly separated from his crowd, which consisted of, Liam, Ivy, Taylor (stealing liar that she is) and one of the other jocks. I curved my eye brows up as I saw him emerge me, wrapping his arms around my waist and hugging me tightly.

“Where have you been?” He wondered loudly, pulling a piece of my hair out of my eyes and placing it behind my ear.

“I have been calling you non-stop!” He finished, setting me down on the pavement and then ensuring that I am not hurt in any way.

“Oh yeah, my phone was completely dead.” I lie, but in real life I didn’t want to talk to someone who just led me on.

“Oh. It was dead?” He asks again, causing me to nod at his gesture.

“Yep. Dead, can I talk to you?” I ask hurrying along in the conversation, but pausing in our walk to the front doors.

“Oh the bells about to ring, can I talk to you later?” He asks, going on without me.

Nope. Talk to me now Tanner. Don’t run off with Taylor. My head chanted at me, causing me not to be able to think clearly.

“I saw you kiss Taylor!”

(One of the many leading causes to my mind being a COMPLETE IDIOT).

I yelled, clasping a hand to my mouth. He abruptly stops in his tracks, turning to glance eternally at me. His eyes pierce at my skin, my breath going faster than ever (well again, I wasn’t really paying all that much attention to my heart beat during the car accident, so) and my hands beginning to shake.

“Um, yeah at the wedding; in the parking lot.” I say, mumbling and bringing a hand to my elbow. Feeling very tense and awkward now.

“Oh.” Is all he says, staring in the distance as the bell rings in the back ground.

“Right, um.” He says, taking a couple steps towards me.

“What’s going on with you two?” My mouth blurts out, making me send a whole new wave of hatred up to my mind.

“Nothing.” He rolls his eyes, “There’s nothing between me and Taylor, promise.” He restates.

“Why are you so worried?” It suddenly seemed like he was interrogating me, maybe how I felt to him?

“I-I’m not, just looking out for a friend.” I say, stuttering.

Dang it, I’m that obvious.

He looks at me, tilting his head back to show the full extent of his neck.

“Hum. You sure you’re not jealous?”  He asks, smirking in my way and inching towards to me.

Yes, I’m dying of jealousy. How’d you know? Another roll of my eyes; could have been intended to both people, Tanner and my mind.

Oh no, now my mind is a person. Great, more therapy needed.  I thought.

“I’M NOT JEALIOUS!” I say, defending myself a bit too much.

Dang.

He chuckles; popping his lips and then wraps an arm around my neck, pulling me off onto the front doors.
