Chapter Fifteen:
“How does this look on me?” I asked Ivy who was helping me pick out a dress for the wedding. “Ivy.” I said grabbing her attention from the lavender strapless dress that clung to my body. It was a corset type that had glittery stones on the top half of the dress.
“What do you think?” I asked unsurely, grabbing the sides of the top and pulling them up higher; her not saying anything just made me feel more uneasy.
“Charlie, that looks…amazing.” She said, complementing my outfit. I beamed up to her, fluffing out the bottom layers once more and looked into the three mirrors the store provided. I shrugged, glancing down to the price tag and grinned. It was right in my price range, in fact it was less; leaving me with enough to get some black heels to go with it.
“Thanks, Ivy. You’re going to look amazing too.” I threw in, to make her feel included. I was really proud of Ivy; she managed to get a pretty hot date, her boyfriend, Liam.
Though being a loving friend I am, I’m also keeping an eye on Liam. Any speck of disobedience is going to be told first hand to Ivy. I had already lost two of my best friends this week; I’m not going to lose Ivy too.
“So are you going to get it?” Ivy questioned, scanning the store’s return-once-tried-on section.
“Yeah, I think this is the best one to get. You think Tanner would like?” I asked shrinking out of it and replacing it with my jeans and tee.
“Yeah. He likes anything you wear.”She tells me, shrugging and glancing down at her newly manicured nails.
“Anything I wear?” I requested laughing. He was my best friend; he didn’t care about those type of things.
“Don’t take it the wrong way but you two are practically inseparable.” My jaw dropped and I quickly brought a hand up to close it. We were best friends!
“That’s because we’re best friends.” I filled her in, even though I knew she already knew it point blank.
“Don’t get me wrong I know you guys are best friends,” she flew her hands in the air. “But wasn’t he there when you got that like bloody nose at Autumn High, wasn’t he the one who picked you off the ground?”
Yes.
“Wasn’t he the one who always kisses you on your cheek?”
Another yes.
“Isn’t he the one you spend every winking second with?”
I’m with her right now right?
“Isn’t he the one you pass notes with in class?”
Ugh, yeah.
“And what about how he ‘suddenly’ started to sit with us at lunch. Now I might not be the brightest person in Tomas River High, but even I know it’s not because of me.”
Dang.
“He likes you Charlotte. The real question is, do you?” She finished, scooting past me and leaving the dressing room door wide open as she walked out of it.
“So, you should get Liam to have lunch with us.” I say texting Tanner, telling him that we could have lunch with Ivy and Liam. We had made plans on hanging out today, after the whole shopping scandal me and Ivy had been planning.
“Are you going to eat with Tanner?” She asked, reading my mind.
I nodded a guilty and pleading look towards her visions path.
