Chapter Twenty-Five
“You know you can come over tonight?” Tanner whispered in my ear, coming up from behind me at my locker. I let out a small sigh, knowing very well that I couldn’t and turning around to face him.
“Sorry babe, can’t.” I make out, leaning against my blue open door to my locker.
“Why not? You can meet my dad.” He brings his hand to my face, moving a strand of hair from my eyes.
Truthfully, I wanted to check up on Andrew. I hadn’t gotten around to seeing him since at least three days ago and I knew he needed moral support.
“I want to check up on Andrew, see how he’s dealing.” I state to my boyfriend, closing my locker all together and finding myself stuck in between in and Tanners hands. I groan, figuring there wasn’t any way out of his stance. Let me reword that, Muscular stance.
“You and I both know I have to go see him.” I stammer, attempting to push Tanner’s arms down so I could get through.
Nada.
Jerk…
He sighs, thinking to himself about other possibilities of being able to see me.
“What about after?” He asks, putting a hand on my waist and pulling me off to class.
Since when does he care about being late?
I tapped my chin as if I was thinking about it, but we both knew I was going to be with him tonight. His eyes glazed down to mine, filling with hope right in front of me. A spark of warmth gazed my shoulder as he laid his hand on it and a frigid smile formed on his mouth.
“We’ll see.” I say, beginning to walk down the hallways with him trailing behind me. He catches up, sliding his arm around my neck and bringing me along the sides of the hallway.
“So talk to Holly lately?” Tanner asks, realizing one of our phones are ringing. I nod double time on that one question and reach for my cell phone that had been ringing the entire time Tanner was digging for his. I hold up a finger to shush him and bring the phone to my ear.
“Hi Holly.” I say, rolling my eyes, grabbing Tanner’s arm and pulling him back to the aisle.
“Charlotte have you talked to Andrew?” She screamed at me, causing me to recoil the phone away from my ear and let it dangle there until I’m sure she’s almost done with her rant.
“Not Holly I haven’t, have you?” I ask, straight forward with no expression in my voice. My plan all along, I wasn’t about to let her get away with her dirty deeds or hurting Andrew in that way.
“We both know I haven’t. Will you?” She retorts, quite meanly.
I sigh, catching Tanner’s eye out of the corner of mine. We share a quick glance, allowing him to know that we were yet again talking about Andrew. He bumps my shoulder, telling me to keep on talking and I would make it through.
Cute.
“I’m going later today, okay. Get off my back!” I say back to her, stopping in front of Mr. Daniel’s Spanish class.
“Oh, like I’m on you back!” She snaps at me.
Like she should be the one snapping.
I let my mouth go agape, making Tanner slouch against the wall and begin to stare at me with one of his hands to his forehead. I sigh, making my eyes grow wide at her and think of a quick comeback. Just something to get me off the phone.
