Charlotte closed the door behind her, letting her father rest. She took a seat in the chairs next to her father's room. She rubbed her face in agony. She knew she was not ready to say goodbye to her only parent. She was an only child.

If her father left... It was a selfish thought but Charlotte thought it anyway.

If her father left, she would be all alone in the world.

Her hands still covering her face, she did not notice a figure standing not far from her, staring at her.

"Nuu..."

Charlotte raised her head from her hands.

"P'Fa..."

Engfa walked towards Charlotte and knelt down in front of her.

"You came..." Charlotte muttered.

"You called," Engfa replied shortly.

Charlotte hugged Engfa, tight and tears started falling out rapidly. Engfa held her tight and caressed her head.

After that moment in the hospital hallway, Engfa wiped Charlotte's tears and encouraged her to be strong for her father. Charlotte smiled weakly and thanked Engfa for coming again. They stood up and was about to enter the room when Engfa asked about Charlotte's boyfriend.

"Oh, I forgot to call him."

"You should. I'm sure he'd want to be there for you." Engfa suggested even if it broke her heart.

If it was up to her, she would not suggest that in the first place but she had to respect that Charlotte is dating someone else now. She cannot be that person for Charlotte anymore, it would be inappropriate.

"You can go in first," Charlotte told Engfa.

Engfa nodded and entered the room. Mr. Austin looked over and smiled instantly.

"Fa!" Mr. Austin greeted.

Engfa smiled and walked over quickly. She leaned down and hugged him.

"How are you feeling, papa?"

"Like how any other old people will feel."

"What? You don't look anywhere near 50! You're still a handsome and fit man!" Engfa complimented.

Mr. Austin laughed out loud, before coughing. Engfa quickly took a cup of water and pressed the button to lift him up a bit. She guided the straw into his mouth. Mr. Austin drank and pulled away. Engfa took a tissue and wiped the lone drop of water on his chin.

"You were always my favourite, Fa..." Mr. Austin looked over at Engfa, who was putting the cup back onto the side table and filling it up again.

Engfa smiled and pressed the button to make Mr. Austin comfortable again. Mr. Austin raised his arm to indicate he was fine. Engfa placed the remote back on the side and sat down on the chair.

"Thank you, papa."

"When are you guys getting back together?" Mr. Austin smiled cheekily.

Engfa pursed her lips and playfully glared at Mr. Austin, "Papa... You know we tried the whole dating thing... Plus, she's dating somebody, remember?"

"Nah-uh. You tried. Charlotte was too immature back then." Mr. Austin retaliated.

Engfa sighed and looked down at her hands.

"That's not true. I was the immature one. Too immature to realise she's her own person. She's independent, strong, and intelligent." Engfa explained.

Engfa turned to Mr. Austin, who listened attentively.
