The cloaked figure stared at Jason, who stared back.

The figure said, "Do you know who I am?"

Jason said nothing, he was silent.

"Oh? Not much of a talker, are you? I will assume you know who I am, but I will tell you just in case you don't know."

Jason slightly nodded in response, ready for what the figure was about to say.

The cloaked figure let out a deep, menacing, and raspy chuckle before revealing its true identity.

"I am Death," it said coldly. "The one you mortals fear the most. And yet, you humans still cling onto your pathetic existence, trying to find meaning in a meaningless world, trying to find a goal."

Death looked at Jason with disdain, as if he was nothing more than a speck of dust.

"You, Jason, are no exception. You strive for something, a goal, a purpose, to become the strongest man in the world. But it's all meaningless in the end. You will die, just like everyone else. And I will be the one to take your soul, for your time is up. You will not achieve that goal, not under my gaze."

Jason scoffed and said, "Not in any way will I let you kill me. I will not let you stop me from achieving my goal."

Death let out a slight laugh, saying, "So, you are willing to battle me? You are willing to fight Death? You will not win in a battle against me, Jason."

Jason put a tight fist up, saying, "I'd like to think otherwise."

After saying those words, Death drew out its scythe and lunged at Jason, determined to end his life before he could achieve his goal.

In return, the fisherman charged forward, his fists ready to be thrown.

And then, the battle began.

Both Jason and Death attacked each other, Death swinging its scythe many times at Jason, who dodged or parried the attacks.

Jason attempted to throw his fists at Death, but the figure dodged his blows, even parrying some of them.

Death was impressed a little bit, but not enough.

Death jumped back, raising its scythe in the air, and slamming the tip of its blade into the ground, creating large cracks that then summoned several giant and gray rotting clawed arms.

The arms tried to slam their palms, fists, and even attempted to grab Jason.

The fisherman did not allow this, as he now both evaded the arms Death summoned to attack him, as well as the attacks Death was delivering upon him.

Jason continued to evade the arms, the blade swung from Death's scythe, and now had to throw a hitting blow.

He had enough of the dodging, so he charged at Death delivering a barrage of a hundred punches.

Death managed to block a majority of the blows, but some of them managed to hit and cause harm.

Jason then punched Death in the chest a couple times, causing Death to stumble and grunt in pain.

Right there, Jason took his chances and delivered many powerful punches and kicks at Death, harming it, and even grabbing Death and throwing it into several trees across the beach he was living on.

Death itself realized that Jason was no foe, knowing it had to be careful with him.

Jason charged towards Death, and the two went into an all out brawl.

They fought for a long time, Jason delivering punches, dodging scythe blade swings, even evading the hands Death summoned.

Death itself even evaded some of the attacks Jason delivered, but not without getting hit by a select few.

Stopping this battle, Jason grabbed Death by the neck and slammed it to the ground, punching it many times all across its torso.

Death let out grunts, loud shouts in pain, yelling, "Stop this- Agh! How can you- Ugh! Damn you, fool- Augh!"

Jason then brought Death up to his face and said coldly, "I told you, I was not letting you kill me."

After saying this, Jason slammed his fist on the ground and launched both him and Death up high into the air.

There, before Jason could do anything else, Death managed to pull out a dagger and plunge into Jason's stomach, the fisherman letting out a large shout in pain.

The fisherman then grabbed Death by the face, growled, and threw Death down to the ground, causing the ground to create many crocks and even break, shooting out rocks.

Jason let himself land onto the ground, the fisherman holding onto his bleeding stomach, coughing up a little bit of blood.

He slowly got up to his hands and knees, seeing Death lay there motionless.

Suddenly, Death let out a loud growl and a ghastly roar, his body suddenly surrounded by black smoke that began to rise and grow.

The giant hands made by Death withered away and the smoke suddenly cleared, revealing Death in its true gigantic form, 55 meters in height.

Death in this form had its body even more cloaked than before and carried a gigantic double headed axe.

Death looked down at Jason, impressed by his fighting skills.

For a moment, Death considered killing him, but something in Jason's spirit made him hesitate and think otherwise.

Instead, Death decided to spare Jason, saying "You have potential, Jason, I see it. You are certainly a strong adversary and are willing to achieve your goal in becoming the strongest man in the world. But to achieve your goal, you will face many challenges and opponents along the way, some of them even going to achieve the same goal as you. Along the way, I will be there Jason, to kill you, and only you can move on if you succeed in beating me during those times."

Jason made a frown, gritting his teeth, saying, "I'll see you then, Death. I will become the strongest man in the world, and no one will stop me from doing it, not even you."

Death let out a chuckle, saying, "I know you will, mortal. Farewell, Jason Rome."

After that, Death disappeared into ashes, leaving Jason alone on the beach.

The fisherman managed to get up and make it home, pulling out bandages from his kitchen and wrapping them around his stab wound after putting large amounts of water on it.

After this, Jason went to bed knowing that he will achieve his goal, and not only prove Death wrong, but even beat Death as well.
