The next day came around and Jason had told his boss that he could not come to work, to which the captain understood.
The fisherman strolled around the town of Dead Shores looking for a doctor's office, as a doctor would surely treat his wound.
Even though there was one in this town, it was very hard to find.
After walking for too much, Jason sat himself down on the ground against a building, grunting in pain as he held onto his stab wound.
"Death really got me there... I should have been more careful..." He said to himself.
"Well, Death isn't just gonna let you achieve your goals so easily, Mr. Rome." a young male voice said.
Jason looked up to see a young teenager who appeared to be 9, but actually had existed since the beginning of time.
This being smiled when he saw Jason, who asked, "Who are you, kid? And how do you know my name?"
The young figure smiled, saying, "I've been around for a long time, I know who you were ever since you were born, and I know everyone else in the world. I am Hope."
"Hope? As in literal Hope itself?"
Hope nodded and grinned, saying, "Yup, that's right! I see that you're pretty hurt. Here, let me take care of that for you."
Jason shook his head. "I'm fine." He said.
"Well, you're gonna have to let me help, otherwise that wound won't go away as fast."
Jaosn hesitated, but let Hope do his thing.
Hope then placed his hand on Jason's wound, pressed gently on it and within seconds, the wound healed up and the pain was gone.
Jason noticed this and was amazed, saying, "I-I feel better now."
He stood up without any pain and removed the bandages. "Thank you." He said.
Hope grinned, responding with, "Any time. Now, Mr. Rome, I heard about you wanting to become the strongest man in the world, a goal that'll be pretty hard to get to, but can be achieved."
"That's right, and I hope to become the strongest man in the world as well."
"But there are other people going towards that goal too, but with hope, you can achieve it. You hope to become the strongest man, Mr. Rome, so I'm here to help. I am Hope, after all."
"Ah, I don't need your help, Hope, I can do it." Jason said.
Hope chuckled a little, responding with, "But who's gonna help you with the potential injuries you'll get along the way? Do you think you'll try to become the strongest in the world without getting scars? You need me, fisherman, to help you accomplish your goal. Deny me and you'll never make it. Not saying it as a threat, I just want you to achieve it too, and my help will do that, but it's your choice to do it without hope. What do you say?"
Jason thought about it for a moment.
He did not need a child along, but this "child" was Hope, and it's true that he could fail to reach his goal without the help of Hope.
Jason made his decision and said, "Okay, you can help and be a part of my journey to become the strongest man in the world. I do need hope after all."
Hope grinned and shouted, "Yay! I knew you'd make the right choice! Come on, come this way, Mr. Rome! I want you to meet someone, something you may also need, along with hope!"
The being grabbed Jason by the wrist and floated towards an open area in between the alleyways of Dead Shores.
There, a young girl hovered in midair, reading a book. She appeared to be 14, but like Hope, she was also a being that existed since the beginning of time.
