"Thousands of years ago, all of our people lived in peace and prosperity, until the attack of the Dweller-in-Darkness. He came with his army, devouring every soul in their path, and with each kill, they grew stronger. After decimating our largest cities, they were headed to your universe to do the same. The leaders of Ta Lo sent their strongest warriors here to stop them from reaching the portal to your world. But our ancestors were no match for them"

They stopped in front of the largest engravement which was of a dragon attacking a flying monster with the humans of Ta Lo.

"Until The Great Protector joined their fight and turned the tide. Together, they pushed the Dweller and his army into the Dark Gate and locked it behind them. Our people have guarded that gate ever since, empowered by the magic of The Great Protector and the gift that she gave us" Ying Nan finished the story and led them to the armoury.

A man charged a staff in his hand and used it to slide a chick of wood in the centre of the room. Katy let out a gasp of awe and Madeline tried to get a closer look at the weapon but the man moved it to put it away.

"Dragon scales" Nan answered their silent question "Makes very good armour"

The older woman turned to the siblings to speak to them.

"Your father isn't the first to come here to open the Dark Gate. Many have tried and failed over the centuries, and they all had one thing in common. They were lured here by the voice of something on the other side. A voice that promised them their greatest desires"

"So you think soul eaters are talking to our dad?" Shang asked her.

"They know The Ten Rings have the power to break them free"

A clatter sound made them all turn to see and older woman dropping all the arrows she had been carrying in her arms. Katy jumped forward and helped the woman pick them all up.

"Oh. Here you go" Katy tried to hand her back the arrows and was more than surprised when the woman passed them back to her "Oh"

"To the range" the woman said in Chinese.

"What? Okay" Katy nodded to the woman in confusement "Um, looks like I'm gonna go deliver some dragon arrows"

"Oh, you're gonna deliver some dragon arrows?" Madeline repeated her statement as she and Shang Chi smiled in amusement.

"Yeah. Make myself useful, you know. Thank you"

"Let's go see your mother shall we?" Yang Nan told them as she led them away.

Katy was led over to an archery range and she put down the arrows as she observed the people of Ta Lo aim and fire.

"I just love how you guys know exactly what you wanna do, and you spend your whole life getting really good at it. I wish I was more like that" she ranted to the woman who has now stopped listening to her if she ever had been in the first place "It's like every time I get moderately good at something, I just quit and start something new. But I just know my own limits, and Im not gonna waste my time chasing something that will ultimately be a disappointment for me. Thats not me"

The woman grabbed Katy's arm and led her forward.

"Guang Bo. Let her shoot" the man was clearly unwilling but nodded is head. The woman turned back to Katy and handed her a bow "If you aim at nothing, you hit nothing"

While Ying Nan walked in front with Shang Chi and Xialing as Madeline walked at a slower pace behind them to respect them.

The older woman had led them to a room full of pictures surrounded by flowers of visitors and family.

"You were everything to her. She knew that one day you would find your way here and asked me to prepare something for your arrival"

Nan brought out two sets of armour and placed the silver one with dark borders in front of Xialing and the dark red one with black borders in front of Shang Chi.

"After losing someone like her, it's easy to feel alone in this world. But you're not. You are children of this family, and I welcome you home"

Madeline was waiting outside and there was where she was approached by one of the large lion like creatures from before.

"Ciao c'è cutie" she held out her hand so she could pet the lion creature, also known as Shi shi, as she waited for the two siblings to come out when they could (Hello there cutie).

The animal stared at her until it made her uncomfortable before it nuzzled into her palm.

"Madeline?" she heard Shang call for her.

"Over here Shang" she called out.

He, Xialing and Ying Nan came out and the sibling were more than surprised to see her with the lion animal now planting its head on her lap.

"He appears to like you" Ying Nan told her.

"He does doesn't he. A lot of people and creatures seem to like her" Xialing stated as she threw a look at her brother from the side of her eye.

"Madeline, was it?" Yang Nan asked her.

"Yes?" the young woman turned to the older one.

"I would like to speak to you in private if it is possible" without waiting for her answer, the woman turned around and led Madelina into the same place she had been in with the siblings "Tell me Madeline, did you know your father?" she shook her head "The people here knew him well. He was one of the first to marry outside of Ta Lo and he brought your mother here" she told the younger woman "You also came from Ta Lo as Shang Chi and Xialing, so I offer you the very same welcome you deserve for it"

"Thank you Nan" Madeline smiled; grateful she now knew where she came from.
